I think I made a mistake not getting the navigation system
In my 2013, is it possible to get the OEM Navigation system put in it from the dealer? Or will I be forced to go for aftermarket?
If so, I'm open to suggestions. I'd be willing to pay at most what the OEM would have cost.

I go back and forth on this same topic.
I ended up getting a ProClip mount and bought the Garmin GPS app for my iPhone. In 5 years if I want something different I won't be stuck with the built in Nav unit.
I'm pretty happy not having the Nav unit at the moment.

The dealer will NOT install the OEM nav. They say its not possiable. Which is utter crap.
Several of us have done it! https://themustangsource.com/f803/ad...em-nav-516988/
For me, worth every penny. Love having onboard radar.

can you please post a picture. I really want to see how that looks. I just don't like the chord hanging around.
I'm not understanding why you would want it. I had a nav system in my 2011 BMW. It worked great. However, my SYNC system in the GT works just as well in giving me turn-by-turn directions. I know a lot of people don't like the SYNC, but I have no problem with it. Does a nav system have any purpose other than getting you from point A to point B?
I like my $99.00 TomTom that has the bracket that installs in the upper center accessory plug.
The pocketed almost 2 grand Ford wanted for the NAV system (or $1100.00 if you buy used parts from a wrecked NAV equipped Mustang) paid for a lot of go fast goodies that I felt were much more fitting to what a Mustang deserves in the way of accessorizing.

Cheaper to do a tablet mod, plus it's better than OEM nav

I did this for under $250 (tablet, paint, vinyal wrap).

If I were to do it, I'd want all that included.
It is not just a navigation system, but a complete electronics package. I have it and it is amazing. I love being able to have pictures on the screen, burn CDs into the Juke Box, and all of the other cool aspects. It may not appeal to everyone but for me it adds a "James Bond" flare to the car.

It's always going to be cheaper and EASIER when you're at the stage of filling up the parts bar codes and the panels aren't even on the car yet...
if you're electronics-savvy I'd highly recommend reading up and collecting the OEM parts piece by piece and doing the work yourself. Just like factory HIDs or Track Pack,s it's always more expensive and time consuming pleading with the dealer to do this type "OEM parts after the fact" kind of work, they're better at selling cars than being a hot rod/customizing shop.

I had to use my crappy picture phone to take a picture of my good picture phone.
I like it this way I use alot of Pandora an such. The Garmin app is pretty good, best part is I don't need cell service to use it. That was a real problem with the built in map apps. I only get lost when I have no cell service, lol. No cell service no built in app map location.
The cord tucks under the center console and comes out in the glove box to plug into the USB port.
The Proclip mount has a built in cable holder, I just slide the phone in place and it plugs in.

The problem I have had with aftermarket or oem in dash navigation units is about maps. Roads are often changed or closed. This means purchasing new maps. I use my iPhone through Bluetooth audio. The app I bought doesn't use cellular Internet for route or guidance. I get free map updates and it also does traffic reroutes. I find it more usable than an in dash unit.
Thanks for the tips guys. I do like the idea of a tablet mod, but I'm not the most experienced in taking these things apart, though with those directions I could probably do it. It seems to me that this thread: https://themustangsource.com/f803/da...ut-nav-521829/ is what I may shoot for in the near future. Much less work and hassle, assuming it all works with my options.
I also saw the tablet mod that could essentially do what the Kenwood system could, but I don't like the idea of tearing apart the bezel and buttons to fit it in there. If there was a pre-made bezel for the purpose of putting in tablets I'd be very interested in seeing it.
