I have a new ****

Not that there was anything wrong with the old one....but this looks better

Old

New - Black Boss shift **** and boot

A word of caution to anyone thinking of this simple mod - you must buy a new boot to match the Boss shifter.

Installation is easy
Remove console - it just lifts out.

Release all elctrical connectors - they are shape and colour coded.
Its necessary to completely lift the console clear to get at the shift boot clips under the chrome trim surround.

The clips are pretty tight but work from one end to the other and they surrender.

Clip on new boot

replace console and screw on new shift ****. 30 mins tops.

Hmm looks great, but my MRT **** is bigger

I might need to switch to the Boss **** and boot, it looks real nice.

Did you pay dealer prices or did you get a discount somewhere else? Thanks.

Looks good. I did mine about two weeks ago but the **** doesn't fit correctly. When tightened all the way it goes about 135 degrees PAST where it should to line up with the gates. If i loosen it a little to point where it lines up then when i shift the **** turns which is really annoying. Just got some loctite for it, hopeully that will cure this problem. Annoying tho...but looks better

Use more muscle. I thought mine wouldn't line up either, I had to crank it pretty tight.

Find yourself a little thin washer or some other small thin metal bit and put it on top of the shaft before you thread the ball on and see if that lets you line it up. Might need to use a dab of grease or something to make the washer stay in place while you thread the **** on.

you can also put some teflon tape on the threads strategically so that the **** tightens up a little earlier.

Love that look, went that way myself when the aluminum one was backordered. Now, I am really happy I did, has more of a retro look and doesn't get as hot either!
