Hill Assist Control??

Hey
Can someone please let me know how to turn on the hill assist control on 13 GT stick?
There are some big hills around where I live, I tried engaging the break then let go while parked on a hill, that did not work.
Is there a way to turn it on??

Thx

Mine was on from the delivery of the vehicle, and I find it very useful.
Remember it is only a 2 second hold and I have found that on very steep hills it is not as effective.
It is barely perceptible most of the time.

Hey DarkKnight,

Your vehicle comes with hill start assist already enabled. Here’s what I found on Page 171 in your Owner’s Guide 3rd Printing:

Using Hill Start Assist
Note: If the engine is revved excessively, hill start assist will be
deactivated.
1. Press the brake pedal to bring the vehicle to a complete standstill.
Keep the brake pedal pressed.
2. If the sensors detect that the vehicle is on a slope, the hill start assist
feature will be activated automatically.
3. When you remove your foot from the brake pedal, the vehicle will
remain on the slope without rolling away for approximately two or three
seconds. This hold time will automatically be extended if you are in the
process of driving off.
4. Drive off in the normal manner. The brakes will be released
automatically.

Hope this helps.

No way, sometimes it's the longest 2 seconds of your life. It's noticeable every time I'm on a hill

I tested it once and it seemed to hold for much longer than 2s (obviously I wasnt giving it any gas/releasing the clutch)...definitely a nice feature! My parking garage exit is a ramp going up to the road so this gets used at least once a day. And here I was for the last 10yrs (last car) messing with the gas/clutch to hold my position like a fool!

Hey Dineau,

As TommyV mentioned, Hill Start Assist is standard on models equipped with manual transmission.

Does anyone know if the 2014 GT Premium Convertible with manual transmission has the hill assist control? I'm in the Seattle area and this would be great... we have some significant hills around here.

I've been driving a manual most of my life. My '14 is the first car I've owned with Hill Start Assist. Its great! I usually don't like extra nanny-features but I've come to really like this one. I have no plans to turn mine off.

first time I experienced it, it threw me off a bit. I grew up driving in San Francisco with a manual. I drive in The City from time to time with the mustang and although I don't "need" the hill assist, it's a welcome addition.
