Correct. I cannot speak however if it will work with the Galaxy 7, as it uses a different style cable. Also, the firmware i use on the Nexus 7 is to allow OTG and charging at the same time. The device will connect to the OBD port (you dont have to splice if you dont want too).

I'm willing to look at making it work with the Galaxy 7 if you want to help out with troubleshooting etc. (That goes for any Android tablet).

Yes, this will work on a base mustang!
Yes I will be a test mule . The one real reason I havent cut up my bezel and installed perm yet is because I dont want to loose the 1-10 buttons. But this looks like it will solve that issue and more.

Good luck and keep me updated.

That's pretty cool. I would like to see the price before jumping in.

Yes, Sorry for the delay, I didnt want to post and update till I was a little closer to completion.

I've complete re-written the communication layer for the hardware to the MSCAN. Simplified it greatly, and in the final stages of completing the API documentation.

I'm also 90% complete on the Android app. I'm not a Java or an Android developer so this has been somewhat of a challenge. What I have written so far works and looks good, but when i publish the source, i hope the community will make it better.

I have also written a small WPF app, for controlling with PC/Laptop. I'm also working on a Windows RT version, but its going to depend heavily on windows 8.1. I'm researching the MODBUS protocol to get around this with the wifi version.

I'm working on automatic temperature control as well, like the nav car has. Its at 25%, and still in the discovery phase. But think its very plausible with additional hardware.

Hardware will cost $180 for the wired version, $225 for the wifi version, and I'm working on a Bluetooth version which i don't have a price point yet, but guess ~$225. These do not include shipping.

All the GUI applications will be open source, and posted on codeplex.

The firmware will remained closed source. But 100% free.

I'm also working on an easy way to send out updates to the hardware, and the hardware it self can have multiple addons (other sensors). I plan on adding more and more features past just controlling radio. For example; Door status, trunk status, fuel status, mpg, control of windows or trunk. Eventually with newer hardware, the ability to do full diagnostics like you could with IDS(ford tool).

Look for and update, and availability by this weekend, with a ~2 day lead time. I will also be offering the Nexus 7 tablet preconfigured for cost, tax, and shipping.

Thanks,
-Matt

Ok well Ill be honest. All of that could have been written in hieroglyphics and I wouldnt know the difference haha. Sounds like you are getting closer to getting it out to use which is a great thing. When your done get a few youtube videos up and I will be one of your first customers.

I would be interested in this as well. I have mounted a Samsung tab 2. I don't have sync so the issue I have is I had to keep some of the factory audio controls. I do miss presets and the ability to see what radio station I'm on. I am looking to add a bigger tablet to my car and if this gives me the HVAC controls I would be all over this.

Hi Zero, what are the system requirements to make this work?

I am assuming Sync at the very least. (For BT reasons)

I'd be interested in getting this system from you as well.

The minimum requirements to make this work is a 2010 or newer F150 or Mustang.

It does not have to be a sync vehicle.

I'm currently working on the 13/14 cluster swap. But I will be picking this development effort back up soon.

Very interested as well.

I have a RT device, and am looking at a 7" tablet for use with a Autosport Labs RaceCapture/Pro (I'm all about those open source solutions, lol). So this is very interesting to me.

This project has taken a small backseat to swapping of the 13/14 cluster into the 2011+ cars.

However, I'm going to release the ACM part of this very soon. I know there are people wanting it. Controlling just the ACM is 95% done with FT232 USB, 90% with serial over bluetooth.

I'll update it more as time gets closer!

I'm so ready to jump on this but I can't find anything that will mount a Nexus 7 (2nd gen). Has anyone else seen anything? I'd like to be able to remove the tablet on the go
