Changing OEM seats to racing seats

For those of you who have removed factory seats in place of racing seats and harnesses, what can be done to clear the seatbelt light and airbag light?
I've heard that removing the fuse will take care of the light but it also disarms the two front airbags.
What are some alternative options?
Thanks for any suggestions

The seats in a late 2007 and up Mustang are integrated with the airbag system. You cannot remove those and have the airbags work. Ditto the seat belts. They are all part of the bigger SRS system, and if any of them are not connected to their yellow (last I checked) connectors, the entire system isn't going to work, hence the lights.

Which is why the fuse is pulled, because it'll never work without all the components working and connected.

Only alternative is to hook up the raw seat mounted airbag out of the original seats, and stuff it under the seat... but I really wouldn't do that.

not sure if it was this forum or the "other recommended by dmicheals" that I read but it can be done. I vaguely remember not doing it yet because it involves creating something like a "dummy load" using resistors and using the factory connectors underneath the seat

Seatbelt light is easy. Look up the process in your owners manual! It's there. I did it

The airbag is more difficult. You need to wire in an equivalent resistor if I remember correctly. My friend John did it in his Boss. There might be a "kit" out there. Check the other forum as it's definitely discussed there

If you order the Ford Racing Recaros, or get the Recaros out of another Mustang will this still be an issue?

Should not be a problem cause those are airbag friendly per my understanding. OEM equipment on track pack cars

I will definitely investigate this on the 'other' forum. I remember reading somewhere in the past about a resistor.
Thanks for the info
I'll have to check out my manual from Ford.
Definitely will be ordering seats and harnesses by tomorrow

I went with the black tape route, hehe
But if you want to do it right you will need ford part # XF2Z 14022 AA but you will need to bring the resistor down to 2 ohms which means cutting open the connector taking out resistor and soldering in 2 ohm resistor.

I swap in a racing seat for track days. I have it welded to a Ford OEM manual seat frame. It came with seatbelt receptor and wire harness with clip. No seatbelt light issues. This does not solve the airbag issue, though. Here's my thread on TMS for this: https://themustangsource.com/forums/...-my-gt-519126/
