Center compartment release button - my ONLY complaint

So before I got my car I watched a Youtube review on the 2013 mustang and the only thing the guy had to complain about was that his elbow keeps pressing the release button on the center storage compartment. I was like REALLY, that's what he's complaining about?

Well I can't believe I agree with him! While shifting gears I keep popping the door open. SURELY someone has a brilliant fix to this nuisance, right?

So you have 3 feet of arm from your elbow to your hand?

The solution is to lock it using your keys. Open the cup holder door and you will see the key hole. Problem solved.

Cup holder door? Where is this cup holder people talk about? I've had the car for 2 years and still can't find it.

Is it possible that you might have mistakenly ordered the teetotalers' edition, Joe?

Here's the video I'm talking about, right at the 10:40 mark. I see what you all mean by locking with the key. I guess I could, just a hassle to keep opening cause that's where I keep stuff and loose change.

They're.

And I agree. Never had that happen, even when getting in or out and having my elbow on the lid. Can't even imagine how you would do it while shifting.

I've popped mine open a few times by leaning on it while driving, but not while shifting.

I've heard this complaint many times before. And after hearing it I actually TRIED to open it just like in that video with my arm and I couldn't do it. Not sure how everyone else is doing it but I rest my arm right on the button and I've never had that problem in 2 years of owning my car. Just lock it, job done.

Just to add a little credibility here... This happens to me fairly regularly too. I don't know if I've done it while shifting -- I don't actually recall. I imagine that guys that don't have the issue are either taller or shorter and therefore their elbow rests in a different location on the center console.

It happens to me every so often. More so when I have the cup door open and my bony elbow hits it just right in between shifts when I'm just cruising around. Doesn't happen when the cup door is closed though.
