Base to premium steering wheel - no radio controls?

Friend of mine on here took off his premium wheel and sync/radio controls and put them on his new BOSS wheel he got recently. I have a base GT and he gave me his old wheel and put the buttons that came on the BOSS wheel on it.

The cruise control buttons work, but that's it. I'd like to be able to control the volume from the wheel, has anyone figured this out yet?

I have read that the audio control module (ACM) needs to be recalibrated. Someone in this or another forum, cant remember, has claimed to have done it, but would not share how it was done.

I have a like new 6-Disc Shaker 500 ACM. This came from a Premium car so it would have supported Sirius and Steering Wheel radio controls. This is for the ACM only ... no Sirius antenna included.

I have no idea if it would be a plug and play in a Base car .....

But I would sell it for $50 + Shipping if you are interested in giving it a try.

I bet a visit to the dealer for an ACM reprogramming would fix your problems. You will pay, though. I doubt they'd do it for free!

That's tempting. Only think is I'd want the door mounted subs as well. Does this module contain the BT device as well?

Hmmm. Good question. I have no idea where the BT module is.

no, the BT device is located under the overhead section of the glovebox, with a bracket with a tab release. I can try to dig mine out for part numbers, but I think you'd still need the harness to the headunit, usb harness (which really two sets of mini-a with a female A-A adapter would do it) and the mic/harness.

The door subs are probably a bit more complicated, but certainly doable. Wonder how long until people start wrecking these things

So the premium wheel will fit a base, and the cruise control will hook right up?

Yes, the premium wheel fits the base and cc works perfectly. The Shaker 500 HU is plug and play with the exception of the subwoofer and amps connector (just not on base cars) and a satellite antenna ($10 on Amazon). You will lose the MP3 connection for some reason but the 6CDs and Sirius capability outweight that in my opinion. You can always have an audio shop install the subs and amps but just upgrading the front door speakers makes a world of difference (under $100 and about 20 minutes work per door). If someone does not pick up that head unit, I'll buy it and resell it.
