Audio build underway!

About to begin my install. Some oldschool mixed with new. Here's whats going in:

HU: Pioneer AVH-X5700BHS
Speakers: Soundstream Exact 5.2s(coax) & 5.3s(comp. set)
Subwoofer: MTX TR7512
Amps: 4CH. MTX TA7804, Mono: MTX TA5601.
Also Pictured: CDT-EF-80 8" midbass drivers. Eventually I may put these in if I can get some cheap shaker door panels. Had them in my old mustang.

Ill try and snap pics as I go. HU will be the first thing which should be in by the weekend.

Nice! What's your plan for the 5.3 set?

And where's your sound deadening and/or wiring?

Right now, I'm planning on putting the woofer in the door. I was thinking of doing the side view mirror control relocate and putting the tweeters there.

I can get a pic of that stuff when I get going, but:
1/0 AWG(streetwires) from the battery to a dist. block that splits into to 4 AWG outs. Same for GND, from the trunk though of course.

All my sound deadening is from this guy: http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/

I've got enough left of the CLD tiles, MLV, and CCF do the doors at the moment. Will have to order more for the rest of the car eventually.I may leave the MLV off the rest of the car as it is so **** heavy and just do the Tiles(same as Dynamat).

Ah I thought the .3 meant it was a 3-way setup. I'm planning to do a 5.25 comp set in the stock locations, I'll mess with T/A to get my sound right. No more tweeter pods for me lol

Oh gotcha. Yea its confusing they named them like that, just means they are separates. The 5.2s are coax. I wish they had made these in a 3-way set....

Right, that's the other option I was considering for the comps. I know they even have adapter plates now so it will all fit in the 6X8 bracket for like $5 lol

I actually found my 1/5 sets Image Dynamics 8s so now I have those and a set of Hertz HX800 mids. Not sure which direction to go now. My whole plan was the IDs in the doors with ID horns under the dash, in a simple 2-way config, with 2 10" AE Speakers IB subs. I thought my IDs were stolen, so I picked up the Hertz mids, thinking I'd do those in the doors with the Focal K2P 5.25 comps in the stock locations and the same subs.

That's quite a predicament you have there lol. I wish I had such a problem. That first setup sounds pretty nuts. What do those horns sound like? I feel like I would knee them all the time.

Those focal comps are great though too, and I've never heard the Hertz mids, but I'm sure they do quite well.

I've never heard the Hertz mids either, as they're very rare. I'm not sure they were even sold in the US, as information on them is very hard to come by.

I also haven't heard a horn setup, but I always wanted to try one. They're harder to tune, but I've heard when you get it right, they sound amazing. It would simplify the door install too...

Right, I remember reading about those Hertz somewhere...they came with very high praises.

I've seen an install with those horns somewhere online. Seems like it would be ear shattering that close to you, but I guess, like you said, if you can get the tuning right...

You'll need separate amps or a four channel unit for the horns and mids, as 25-50 watts for the horns will be plenty and 100-150 for the mids will be ideal.

I've done several installs with image dynamics and usd horns and when powered and tweaked properly they can be awesome. That said I'm planning on either JL or Focal three way components in my doors, unless I get lucky and find some new old stock PSD-series MB Quart components from the mid '90s.

I have an extra Audison LRx5.1k that needs a new board, but it's 60x2, 160x2 and 1050x1

I'm also looking at the new Audison bit8.9 to run the whole system...

That'd work. I have two original Soundstream reference 700s I plan to use, one for the components 150x2 and the other bridged at 2 ohm mono for 700 watts, probably on the 13w3 stealth box from JL.

Anyway sorry OP didn't mean to hijack your thread.

I'm thinking about the Stealthbox too. I always push it, but I wish it had the 10w6 that the 05-09 box had, versus the 13w3...

I still love the IB sound though, so might still go IB. I did in my 00 V6 and had 2 custom made 12s built specifically to be used IB in a car. Super efficient and sounded amazing!

Yep I like free air and would do it but the choice for IB subs is just so limited nowadays. Years ago I did 15s in small enclosures using aperiodic membranes but you can't find the stuff anymore.

No problem lol. This is interesting to me as well. I've been curious about the horns for a while....I'm just getting started so pics won't be rolling in for a bit

Check these guys out. I've read their flatlyne series works well in IB.

It does, I was considering those too. I forgot all about them, namely because the FL is a bit pricey for me.
