Adding subs
I have a shaker 500 in my 2011 V6. And I pretty much know nothing about car systems. I already like the bass in the car now and I dont always play my music real loud. But there are occasions where I would like a little more bass in my music. Now what should I be looking for? Besides just buying a subwoofer what else do I need to buy? Any other parts to go with that? And what would you recommend for my needs. Please remember I know nothing about any of this, all information is very much appreciated! Thanks!
Definitely get some professional help with the install process.
If you want simplicity then a possibly an amplified solution would be the best for you. Meaning the subwoofer and amplifier come together or are a part of the same package.
If sound quality is your preference and you are willing to pay a little bit more then the installer like Best Buy or Audio store will recommend a amplifier and subwoofer combo that will fit your budget and work very well.
On here you will hear many different opinions of audio systems and their quality. What it really all depends on is how much you are willing to spend and what kind of quality you are looking for. Also searching the forum here will give you many ideas as well as youtube, and google. There have been several threads recently on sub and amplifier setups. Any specific systems you have questions about just post here or in one of the other threads and we will help in any way we can.

Well I'm willing to pay about 200 dollars for subs not including installation. And I'm not really interested in changing the speakers because for two reason. Number one I'm satisfied with how the stock shaker 500 speakers sound and secondly I know it starts to get really expensive. Like I said I'm just looking for subs will put a little more bass in my music then stock and isnt overly expensive.
I'll sell you my 12" Alpine set up out of my old car.
12" aApine Type-R, Eclipse 600w amp, .8 cubic foot sealed box, wire kit, bass remote, etc.
It's in awesome condition and sounds incredible. PM me if you're interested. We can definitely work out something price wise.

Oh, and I know this because I have a Alpine Type R 12 as well. Now I have a Type R 10 though.

Most definitely! It would also be a good buy because down the road if he did buy new interior speakers then he would have a sub and amp that could get louder. It's a good buy. I would say do it either way really!
I just started my interior overhaul today.
I planned out my sub/amp/box, and I started my suede interior project (door panel inserts, headliner, A/B/C pillar, rear deck lid, steering wheel spokes, center stack and console) which will be brought back to the box as well.
I'm going to make a fiberglass enclosure for a single Kenwood 12 and I'll be running an Alpine amp.
I'm already running Boston S85's in the front, but may switch to a component setup depending on how the sub sounds.
My sub will be here in a couple weeks and I'll start the stereo then. Should be finished with the suede by then.

Can u simply add 1 sub and an amp to the
Factory system, keeping the head unit and all in tact? They sell a stealth box for our cars?
I have a kicker 1200.1 amp but that's for my 2 rockfords in my truck. I'll probably sell that..

Yeah the kicker 1200.1 would be a little big for one sub but there are some 12's out there that can handle that much power. Like this one!

**** that thing is insane. I want something small, and relatively light weight (not overly huge) and something that will tuck away in the corner nice. Provide a little extra thump.
You just connect with regular RCA cables like to an aftermarket unit or that wiring kit has special connectors? I'm gonna google that model # u posted

If you dont like the Idea of crimping wires and dont mind a little exta work but like plug and play better check this out. AOEM-FRD24. This plugs into the back of the factory radio, then plugs into the harness and has 4 RCA outputs. 2 front and 2 rear. It also has signal adjustment so you can make it louder or softer like the PAC SNI-35. The upside is no cutting/crimping of wires. The downside is you have to dismantle the dash to hook it up and you have to run the RCA's all the way from the front of the car to the rear. I have his installed also and it works awesome.

Thanks for the Help man, still a touch confused but haven't researched it muchX once I check it out I'll understand.
Not against splicing but if it can be avoided and ripping apart dash avoided, that's a huge plus. If I wanted to use your first recommendation I'd have to access the back of the head unit also to run a sub and amp right?
