You could be running into issues with your 1TB drive because Sync won't recognize anything over a specific hard drive capacity or it may require a secondary power source to run the drive with such as a USB that mates to your lighter outlet and your USB sync input at the same time. I only say this because of having problems with my Kenwood after installing it and owning a 1TB drive with all of my music on it.

If I remember correctly, others are using 1TB drives so it's not an issue. I think it was just a bad drive since it also locked up my computer sometimes. Even formatting a small 5 gig partition didn't help.

I tried a totally different drive at 750G and that worked right away with the full 750 gig.

Wow, great find, I had no idea there was a second usb port. This can certainly come in handy if both myself and a friend want to charge phones or something.

I bought
one of these one of these
for dual charging. Works like a champ! That being said, the second USB is a cool find for hi-cap music storage.

Yea that's definitely not a bad adapter, but if we already have a second usb port that you can also use to play music, might as well have a one plug solution right?

Nice write up on a great project. I only have about 800 songs on mine, so it's not really necessary for me. But, Katy Perry? really over 10k songs and and you go with Katy Perry. Well, that's cool, we all have different tastes. Enjoy!

If you want to use it for music then I agree but I wouldn't go to all that trouble just for charging.

All of my music is on my iPhone so I'm not sure I need it (although I'm really trying to find a reason for doing it just because it's so cool!).

I listen to Pandora like 90% of the time, so I don't desperately need it for music playback, but like you said, it's cool lol. Also, the cables and adapters can be bought online for under $10 total, and it will be fun. So I don't see a reason not to.

Yeah, I know what you mean. My wife rolls her eyes when I do things like this. She doesn't understand that it's fun.

You hating on Katy Perry? That could be grounds for war on some forums... Definitely not here but could be somewhere else.. Like a Disney Forum?

What's wrong with Katy?

The song before that was Dia Frampton. Would that be better?

Yes, she is. The kind of girl you want to bring home to mom and introduce her, and hope mom's not home.
Back to the original topic, great find! That's what's great about these forums; you find good stuff about our vehicles you never knew where there.

I will say that she thinks some of things I like to do are cool. She has a bit of geek in her.
