400a to 401a Shift ****/boot swap

I know this was posted a few weeks ago with the part number for the boot (AR3Z-7277-B) but does anyone have the part number for the shift **** and a good place to get these items for a 2011 GT? I talked to the parts guy at a local ford dealer and they told me the **** would be $150 which sounds very steep.

$150 is about right. Most dealers will give 10% off parts if you ask, or make a fuss about the price being high. If you want OEM, you gotta pay the $$$. I bought mine used from a forum member.

That seems nuts to me. I remember paying around 50-75 for my mach 1 ****. Does anyone have the part number for the ****?

Part # is listed near the top right if you want to shop around.

That's where I found the part # for my GT500 shift boot. It was cheaper to get it locally, but it saved me the hassle of hunting for a number for it.

Is there anything else that is needed to do this conversion besides the **** and the shifter boot? It seems like when I feel around the boot the diameter of the shift lever is larger than what the 401a shifter setup.

I'm wondering the same thing. Do you just need this **** and this shift boot and then Bob's your uncle?

I think so, based on other posts I've read on the swap (I want to do this as well).

Yep, just the boot and the **** are all you need. Unscrew the ****, pull the top of the center console out, then remove the boot. Snap the new boot in, reinstall trim, and screw on new **** and you're done!

I thought you did not have to shift the boot, just get the correct adapter for the boot you have. So if you have a 400A, you would need this adapter:

I have also seen many shift the boots, but I also have seen people just getting the right adapter.
Or have I missed something??

The Grabber pony adapter will not work with the 401A ****. As you can see in the pictures, the 401A **** has its own post built in. So if you try to use that with the grabber pony adapter, the boot will either bunch up too much or just be extremely scrunched down toward the console.

If you want to just use the grabber pony adapter, then don't buy the 401A ****.

Absolutely right, I missed it was the 401A ****...

Just for clarification guys, if you have the stock 400 shift **** and you want the 401a shift **** you need the 401a **** AND boot.

If you have the 400 or 401a **** and you want the grabber pony ****, you need to buy the appropriate adapter from grabber pony

Correct... did the swap a month ago. You need the 401A **** and boot... that's it.
FYI... remove the cupholder assembly from the center console before trying to remove the old boot. Be careful as the tabs are all plastic. In a worst case, you can cut off the old boot.
