2013-14 Rear arm rest
A friend of mine just bought a 2013 V6 and I rode in the back seat and noticed a change from my 2012..
I wonder if it's just on V6 models or all 2013-14... It kind of made it feel a little more roomy because I had somewhere for my elbow to go and it not feel so "squished" or cramped...
This is what my 2012 looks like:
And this is what hers looks like:
It's probably my OCD that noticed the minor change, but it seems like the arm rest pocket is a different size and goes in a little further

Holy crap, I thought I was "Mr. Detective" for noticing tiny things...
You're right, the whole side plastic pieces there are completely different moldings. Sitting in the back (which I've never done) is surely the way to notice. I'm a bit surprised they changed them with only two model years to go. My '13 V6 looks like your friend's, and the sections beside the quarter-windows is much larger and flatter, more like a flat ledge than the pics show (and it was previously).

LOL, my son told me there was a difference between riding in the back of my wife's 2011 and my 2013..something about the arm rest. He seemed serious about it too, but I thought he was just imagining it. I never ride back there.

If I werer to sit in the back seat of these Mustangs, you'd have to call the fire department and have them bring the jaws of life to cut enough of the car away to get me out.
I really don't understand why a back seat is installed on most cars these days. Much cheaper to just make them like the Boss 302's.

^ Yeah, it seems like rear seat delete could be an obvious factory option for all models. So I'm guessing it has to do with some silly CAFE or similar thing, like a lot of "odd" decisions seem to be.
OTOH, especially for "certain" lol drivers: these cars can certainly usefully use a lot more weight back there than up front. I laugh when I read the benefits of removing the rear seats is "save up to 30 pounds" or similar, when so many drivers (that I've seen) could do just as well and be better off in all ways, driving and personally, by removing that same weight from the front seat. [Sorry for the "rant", but these aftermarket sellers will say anything IMO, and I have my own observations from Mustang meets...]

I've never ridden in the back seat, but I have sat back there. In my opinion, the Mustang has one of the most form-fitting, and comfortable, back seats ever made. Keep in mind that as a kid my dad bought a brand new 1959 Ford Galaxy (probably the ugliest Ford ever built) and those seats were flat, flat, flat. The Mustang back seat is very nice, in my opinion. I would have loved this back seat as a kid. And our little dog loves riding back there. It's like she has a little dog bed the way the center depresses.
Also, does everyone else keep their head rests in the lowered position when no one is back there? Makes for much better visibility.
