2 12" Subs in Trunk? Ported Box?

I'm wanting to put 2 12" subwoofers in the trunk, its a 2011. I want to find a ported box, which is recommended for 2 12"s because of the lows. I know for sure I could fit a sealed box but that is more for 10s. I'm looking at the Kicker CompVR 43CVR124, any recommendations on box (and or subs)?

I know you are looking for 2 12s, but I'd consider the JL Stealthbox first for any car that they make it for.

I've seen those around, but $750 is just way too much for one sub even though its close to 14 inches.

Are you sure you want 2 12s? I have a single IDQ 12 with about 700 watts, and it hits fairly hard with the volume up.

I would advise you to spend some time on caraudio.com/forum - you'll learn more about audio there. There's tons of guys that have done systems in Mustangs on there. I'm not saying there isn't audio knowledge here, but I think you should spend some time researching the basics before you dive in.

Do you think 2 12s would be too much? I just want something that thumps

It's like horsepower, it's never too much.

That being said, there's a lot more to sound volume and quality than the number of drivers.

Like, the reason I mentioned the Stealthbox is because it's a solid drop in system. You won't outperform that system without upgrading your alternator and battery, adding a capacitor and circuit breaker, etc.

In other words, to beat a setup like that, you need a fully engineered solution no matter how many woofers you have.

But you're right about it being expensive, because they did the research for you. So if you need to creatively get the same performance for less money, you'll need the knowledge of how to engineer something yourself... Which is why the car audio forums are your next stop.

For me yes, to other it may not be. I goes down to sub and amp selection and the audio taste of the person. With a properly selected sub you can use a corner box and still have most of the trunk space while getting the thump you need.

What Laser said. There are so many options, just shop around and check out different installs. Also, You are going to lose a lot of trunk space to make 2 ported 12s work. It comes down to personal preference, but one good quality sub and a well matched amp will get you plenty of thump. I went with one sealed 12 and mine thumps pretty hard when I want it to...and sounds good doing it. I also got to keep a good amount of my trunk space.

I was looking into this. Fairly good pricing and an awesome speaker. Just watch some of the YouTube videos on them.

I was also looking at Sundown audio. Maybe one of these will intrigue you.

I don't if you frequent reddit, but they worship sundown over there in the carav subreddit. The answer there to everyone's sub woofer questions ends in "Why not just go with a sundown 12?" Could probably get some good info on them over there on them, but For a more objective standpoint I've done some digging around in other places. From what I have gathered, they take power and play loud well. They lack a bit in range and overall SQ though. So more of an SPL woofer you could say. Just my 2 cents as I have never actually owned a sundown, but am also curious about them.
