Not a good idea. HID bulbs are not meant for halogen housings. They blind everyone on the road, not to mention being completely illegal.

If you want HID color and light output, you should have ordered real HID's.

Or you can change the housing and retrofit the custom hid's in there.....but I meen every custom vehicle I see around my city has illegal hid's so if you can't beat em join em..probably not the best advise but....it's not like there any more blinding to oncoming traffic them all the Denali SUVs and trucks and escalades and high end cars like high prices audi's and Mercedes and BMW's...because the mustang is so low even with illegal hid's Arnt as blinding the big a** escalades and Denali SUVs, IMO

like i said before i hate the way the factory HID looks, too modern for a retro through back and on black the coler of the housing looks off. and as far as legality goes.... whatever. my truck is lifted too high, the tires are too big,the windows are too dark the pipes are way too load, and i dont have mud flaps or fender flares and i have yet to be pulled over and i have been driving it for years. now whats wrong with HIDs in a standard housing?

Plain and simple, halogen housings can't focus and direct the light from an HID bulb. They throw the light everywhere, including all over everyone else on the road.

Yes your truck may have all those things, but none of those directly put other drivers in danger the way illegal HID's do.

I don't want to get into a heated debate on the dangers involved on illegal HIDs , I don't care about that, i just don't but if that's the only argument then I still dont see a reason not to get them, I would more like to know about installation issues and warranty problems.

To each their own. You'll think differently when your illegal HID's cause oncoming traffic to veer into your lane and into a head on collision. And you will be at fault for your illegal lighting equipment.

It has happened to a close friend of mine back in high school. His insurance rates skyrocketed, not to mention having to foot the bill for both his car and the other drivers repairs.

But if you don't care about other drivers' safety, then good luck.

Weren't the HIDs used in the 2007-2009 models in the same housing as the halogen headlamps that were produced. In other words Ford took an HID and stuck it in a standard headlight housing. So Ford was intentionally causing wrecks?

Perhaps people put HID's in standard housings and then fail to aim them. Goodness knows there are tons of old cars with plain headlights here that need to have them aimed downward more as I guess they have moved up over the years or after replacement.

Proper OEM HID's aren't "blue", they're 4300K white. The slight blue color comes from a chromatic abberation as the light bends around the cut-off shutter. The "bluer" aftermarket colors are just a gimmicky fad. The more blue the light, the less actual usable light on the road.

Either do a proper conversion of your halogen housings to projectors or leave them alone. The cheap, glary HID bulb-only conversions **** everyone off on the road.

On my 07 gt I has aftermarket hid's in the standard housing and they were soooooo bright! Awesome for me but horrible for everyone else! Long story short all those mods on your truck are beside the point, when you have super bright illegal hid's driving at night and a cop is coming in the oncoming lane your getting pulled over, getting a hefty fine or a dangerous driving charge or both and he is going to make you remove them! Happened to me and will happen to you...but if you don't care about the police, fines, charges or other peoples safety them by all means get a hid conversion online and be a 16 year old rebel...lol but you have been warned. Good luck friend :-)

Retrofit. Mustangs don't have a front "diffuser" so your car will be like looking into a maglite.

Here's mine.

If it's the color you're after, just purchase a set of colored halogen lights as a direct replacement. You don't get the light output of the HID's, but you get the color without the ill-effects on nearby drivers. Something like a Sylvannia super blue or something should do the trick.

Oracle is just an overpriced HID brand and is no more legal then the rest of the kits. The fact that your dealer installs non street legal parts is questionable practice in itself.

The ONLY correct way to use HID's in a halogen housing is to take the housing apart and retrofit a projector into the housing. With the exception of the very few cars that have specially designed reflectors for HID's, a projector set up is the only way to properly control and focus the HID light.

If you actually looked at the Oracle website they do a projector retrofit, just like you are saying is the only right way to do it. So before you say a company is doing something illegal you might want to look it up.

Yes they were offered in 08 & 09. The housing lookd very similar but in the end was a true HID housing. It can be retrofitted into the 05-07 cars but is a painstaking process. Another option is this kit from Saleen.

05-09 Standard housing: **07-09 there was no black cover over the bulb, just a metal ring**

08 & 09 HID Housing:
