Tire size recommendations for staggered setup?

Going to run a staggered setup with the black amr wheels on my stock height 13 gt premium. I have the 18x10 back rims and was going to order the 18x9 for the front.

Am recommends a 255/45/18 for the front and a 275/40/18 for the rear but I've read that most people run a 295?

What sizes should I run? It's mostly a daily driver in town and a weekend cruiser. Might take it to the strip and tune it this year.

For my 19s, I run 19x9 255/40 Front, 19x10 285/35 rear. Not sure how that translates to 18s...

Sorry if you read the previous post before I wiped it and did this post, 'cause I didn't have my head on straight.

The 2010 GT500, on 18x9.5 rims, comes with 255/45-18 and 285/40-18 tires, to ensure the diameters are the same.

Therefore, going with 255/45 up front and 275/40 in the back is going to cause the rear tires to be smaller in diameter, and that'll look wrong. 27" vs 26.7". Not a lot, but... 3/10" inch is not unnoticeable either.

Going to the 295/40-18 will raise the diameter from 27.3" in back vs 27" up front.

And 295/35-18 will drop it to 26.1, which will look silly.

I would therefore be choosing the 255/45 and 285/40s myself. The 295/40-18 is the second choice, IMO.

Hope that helps ya out!

I run 255 on the front and 275 on the back with 20" wheels. The fronts are 8.5" and the back are 10". Works great.
Also ran OEM fronts and OEM replicas that were 10". I used 255s on the front and 285s on the rear. That worked well too.

So don't worry, just do it

I have 18x9.5 wheels all around and run 255/45/18 and 285/40/18. When those tires wear out, I'm going to try a 265 wide tire setup all around.

Hm.

285/40 and 255/45 tires are 27" tall. The 275/40 is 26.7"

The 265/45 is 27.4", .4" taller than 285/255s. And unavailable, seems. Still, if you could get them, I'd be a tad concerned about the rub situation up front.

The 265/40 is 26.3", .7 shorter, but the BFGs and Yokos look very reasonable... But they'd look really bad, IMO, being too short for that wheel/fender combo.

But then, it's not my car we're talkin' about is it?

Interesting idea. Post pics when you do it!

I got the 265 wide/square tire thought from seeing the 2011 & 2012 Shelby GT350. Their OE fitment is: 265/40/19 on 9.5 Cragar wheels having + 30mm offset. I think it’s doable on my '14 GT, but we will see. In the meantime, here’s a few pics for you:
