Smoked out!
Smoked my side markers and tail lights this week! Had them done by a bodyshop with a tinted clear coat. I LOVE how they turned out. The downside is they cant be removed like the stick on tint stuff. The look cant be beat! What do yall think?

how much did the body shop charge for the tail lights? they look sweeet
That looks great! I, too, am interested in seeing how much your body shop charged for this. If it wasn't too exorbitant, I may go this route in the near future, assuming all body shops charge relatively the same rate.
Very, very nice. I don't like the way the "overlays" & "covers" look but I love this look.
Don't they make some spray on tint stuff for this? I'd like to give it a shot myself & I remember reading years ago about some spray on stuff to give this effect.

Yes they do. Some of the auto parts stores sell an aerosal can type of spray on but i dont know about the quality of that stuff. This particular body shop did this for me as a trade for some work i did for them. Otherwise i would have paid for it just because i have never worked with clear coat and painting anything so i wanted a professional to do this. But even still its a pretty cheap mod that makes a big difference.

Some states have explicit laws against modifying the lights in any way. In Louisiana you cannot change the colors of the lights to any colors used by emergency vehicles like Red or Blue. My buddy has a green truck and put green HID's on the truck and got stopped and he got the ticket thrown out by using the law. It also was just a light shade of green not an all out green light. But the law regarding tail lights in Louisiana states that the lights have to be visible on a clear night, by 500 feet or more. I tested this out and because the Mustang lights are so big and bright to begin with all the lights are still very visible from well beyond 500 feet. Even more visible when the brakes are depressed. But i haven't looked into any other states laws.

"(e) Taillamps shall be red in color and shall be plainly visible
from all distances within 500 feet to the rear except that taillamps
on vehicles manufactured after January 1, 1969, shall be plainly
visible from all distances within 1,000 feet to the rear."
Those look really good. I like the red though.
Might change my mind after seeing yours.

I'll tell you what. Its been a few months and mine have lightened up a little. I was told it was to be expected. I dont have any current pics to compare against but they are lighter. They were a little too dark at first. Now they are perfect. That will be another little project for me. Do a picture to see how they have changed since I got them done!
