Running two sets of fog lights

I'm looking to add a Roush front fascia with fog lights and would like to run them on the factory switch instead of drilling a hole into the lower steering column cover, I would also like to have both the factory fog lights and the Roush fog lights running on the factory switch. What would need to be done to run both sets on the factory switch?

Yes. I answered this on anther form for a guy wanting to run two sets with his Boss valance.

Anyway hook the existing wires from the fog lamps up to a relay. Then wire the relay to both sets of fogs. You can run larger wires to and from the relay and the fog light wire from Ford just triggers the relay.

Did you go into more detail when you explained it to the other guy? If so can you link to the post? PM me if it is on another forum.

It depends on if you get a kit from Roush or not. If you do, you basically just run the wires from it and from the stock fogs to a relay, like in this kit:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/05-09...Q5fAccessories

That means finding the path of the stock fogs and adding the relay in the engine bay to it (with the new fogs wire coming in as well), then running a wire to the OEM switch, OR putting the relay between the OEM wire and switch under the IP and running the new fog lights wire in to it -- probably the easier solution

Then you run the wire out of the OEM switch piece and to the relay, and use the OEM switch as an on/off switch for that relay. That makes it sound more confusing than it is, really...

So instead of using the Roush switch, you use the OEM one, wire from it (for off/on on the OEM fogs) going to the relay, instead of the OEM or Roush fogs, and from the relay wires going to both sets of fogs.

Look here, pages 10 and 11, and so instead of the wire going to the OEM switch, you have one more relay that combines the OEM wires and the Roush wires.

It is really no different than the basic drawing below. The switch is the wires going to your original fogs. You can cut into the wires or just run the relay near the plug. Run four fogs instead of two, parallel the fog connections.

I have a 2011 mustang GT. I am going to buy the classic design concepts fog light kit for my CDC front chin spoiler. I want to be able to use the factory switch to turn on both the factory fog lights along with the CDC fog lights. I also want to be able to select between the factory fog lights and the CDC fog lights and be able to turn on one or the other seperately or both together. Will that be possible?

Yup used similar scemadic with a relay. Mine turn on together.. boss valance.fogs and gt fogs

Instead of a switch I used the factory 12v fog to engage the relay that turns on the second set of fog lights

I can't remember the details and I don't remember where I read it, that setup is supposed to be illegal. With headlights on and fogs that would get you 6 lights and the max is 4. Maybe thats why Roush didn't set it up that way from jump. I dunno I could be talking outta turn here, something to check into with your local authorities.

Quite right, it's illegal, so don't shine them at a cop. On deserted back roads can be quite helpful to have more light, but I have mine wired separately so can pick/choose.

I live in IL and the law here is no more than six lights facing forward. That doesnt include your turn signals or amber lights. A buddy of mine has big fogs on his pushbar and two more bright fogs in his bumper of his truck. He drives around with them all on. They are positioned to not blind anyone, that's a must. I don't know what the law is in other states, and some cities might enforce their own law. Just sayin
