Quick Rim/Tire Size Question

Tire and wheel size question here - as I'm clueless when it comes to this stuff.

I've ordered a 2014 v6 with the 18" wheels. I'm going to be a cruel man and drive it in the winter, and I'm thinking about winter tires and rims now.

I see someone is selling their RIMS and tires from their stock 2012 v6 privately and I'm thinking of purchasing it for the rims, and just putting winters on.

His 2012 wheels and tires are 225/65/17

My 2014 wheels and tires will be 235/50/18

The 2014 standard base size is 215/65/17

Are his rims compatible? (I think they are, but want to make sure). Also, it looks like his tires are wider than current standard base. Does this matter/is it workable?

My apologies to those in the know. I find this tire/rim sizing stuff very confusing.

Thanks for any help.

Automatics come standard with the 215/65's and manuals come with 225/60's.

The wheels will fit right on your car no worries, you just need to get the tires you want for them that match your 18's overall height.

Yes they will work. I bought a set of 2013 v6 rims and all season tires to use in winter. I run 18s in summer with summer tires.
Indianapolis area.

Are your 18s all season? If so, just use them. If your picky, then pick up a beater set from Roush overstock.
