Painted supersnake stripe cost vs vinyl

So my FIL has a ford dealership and he said he could probably have his body shop paint a super snake stripe on a convertible for $700 to $800. This seems like a pretty good deal. Vinyl with labor seems to run $300 to $400.

Any opinions on painted vs vinyl. Vinyl guys, would you have them painted if they were cheap enough?

painted stripes usually run between 1500-2000.

I know.. Good thing we get along . I figured it would be around $1100 at any other place given that it's a convertible. I did get him a nice gift for xmas So maybe that is why
... The biggest thing is if I grow to hate the stripe, I'm stuck with it or repaint.

If you choose the color right, once the stripe is on, vinyl or paint, you won't want to take it off.

If I could get one painted on my car that cheap I'd be on it quick.

I want a stripe(s) on mine, just not happy with the lack of gloss finish for the color I want.

I originally wanted mine painted but didn't want to spend the $1500. I chose to just use the vinyl for less than a 10th of the cost. I can always replace them if they start to get miffed up. No biggie other than if they were painted it would be easier for me to maintain. I am going to add to mine and I'm glad I don't have to deal with paint.

I might do plasti-dip on mine. Better than vinyl but not permanent like paint.

i had supersnake vinyl stripes for almost 8 months now, but now i m planning to remove it for following reasons
- eventhough i have maintained as best i could the stripes look awful now. due to texas sun and having no garage
- i see bubbles n stuff popping up.. did the syrnege n heat gun stuff to repair.. it keeps coming up
- (main reason) i got fed up of the look.

now thinking back i felt good going vinyl route as removing cost me $0. if it was paint i m stuck with it for life/repaint the whole panels. so it is not only cost different to apply you need to consider/also consider the removal. just a thought.

I wasn't really concerned with degradation. It stays in the most of the time. I've gone back and forth on any type of stripe. I have a set of gt500 silver stripes from AM in the garage. But I saw some pics of a sterling gray with silver gt500 stripes and didn't care for them. Then I was thinking supersnake silver or matt black.
I do like your stripes though. Stripes always look good on the DIB

Yeah, my bad, didn't realize there was another version that looks so similar. At least there's options b/c I love the style and TruFiber's apparently has working ram air, but what's up with the rivets in the heat vents? Not digging that. Cervini's vents look OEM but their hood doesn't have ram air ducting and I just called to ask about their ram air/CAI kit again, which they've been working on for a few years. They tell me it's due out in a few weeks, but I've heard that story before. And I'm guessing you have to pay extra for the ducting if they actually release it.

EDIT: Wait, that pic has no rivets/screws, so isn't it a Stalker?. I'm confused.

I'm about to put vinyl on mine (shop install), I thought they'd last at least good year or three? What about the factory stripes that come with on gt500's. Do they only last couple months too?
