Need help with matte/clear paint
Need help with matte/clear paint
I am painting my hood vents tomorrow and I needed some advice and tips on how to do this. I was planning on sanding the vents, spraying one or two coats of primer, sanding with 230 grit sand paper, spraying thick base coat, wait 15 minutes and spray a medium second coat. Then I was going to spray 3 coats of matte clear. This will all be with spray paint. I'm worried about the matte clear coat. Any advice would be greatly
Appreciated!

The reason why I'm worried about the clear is because I painted my coil covers today and I didn't realize how much work it is to get the clear coat to look good. I spent a lot of time on it, and it's still not anywhere near as glossy as I would like ( see pic). From what I've researched, matte clear is a little easier because you typically don't wet sand it. Let me know if you've got any pointers!
Not to be an *** but there only 80 bucks and they look good i have them on my car. http://www.americanmuscle.com/frpp-b...ue-1112gt.html

I thought about plasti dip, but I want a better finish.
The super shiny gloss on thr coil covers wouldn't stay great looking anyway under the hood with the heat. I wouldn't go with heavy coats. Too much chance for runs. Go with 3-4 light coats of color and clear. And the coil covers are textured so harder to get a glossy shine.
