Maybe its just me but why do this?
Maybe its just me but why do this?
I follow a couple mustang things on instagram and this poped up....it is plastidip. and a 2013 gt500...why? If its your car sorry but it looks horrible. Said it cost him 500$.. but seriously why pay 50k for a car to get a 500$ paintjob.
I see it as trying something new, maybe he is deciding it he wants that color, and it was a cheap trial run? Also, with those wraps/plastidip, if you want to try different colors all the time, it makes changing things very easy. It even keeps the paint pristine underneath, so say you keep the car for a few years, you never have to wax it, never have swirl marks, and it prevents rock chips.

I can't imagine how long it would take to peel all that paint off... i have issues just with vinyl stripes lol

Hahah wow. I wonder how his paint was in the first place though. There's a guy on Instagram who did his whole car and peeled it off, had no problems. It was also a newer 2013 though, so his paint was still perfect.
sure there's that, one guy commented on the actual picture the guy posted and said i did the pastidip thing and when i peeled it off, it took the clear coat and base layer with it.

of course you dont NEED to spend money on that kind of paint job, maybe my though process is more well i spent all this money on a nice car, might as well get a quality paint job too.
Because this person must of lost their mind. I HATE plastic dip. It is cheap..looks cheap...doesnt hold up forever and with how much money we spend on our cars just buy the real deal instead of "ricin" it out. I know ill probably **** a lot of people off with that statement but it is my opinion. So yea dont know why anyone would do that to their car because I think that pic you shared looks like ****! Lol

IMO no it isnt because those things are made of high quality material and painted. Not some sloppy looking cheap *** paint thrown on some parts. It isnt about whether it is functional or not it is about how tastefully it is done and plastic dip looks cheap.
Alright fair enough.
for example there's fake hood scoops.. cheap version of just buying a real hood with the functional heat extractors. personally I like the look of the side scoops for example, but when I saw they were just basically plastic parts glued to the side, I didn't get them cause I thought it was cheap. maybe from a distance it looks good, but up close its pretty lame IMO. don't see how one could bash plastic dip(which I agree is lame/cheap), and yet be okay with plastic parts. you said its not about it being functional its about it being tasteful... if that's the case then, it really is according to what a person likes. maybe for you its not tasteful and looks cheap(for me too), but for others maybe they like it and it looks like quality stuff(you can't dispute this because you just said about how tastefully it is done/looks, which comes down to opinion not actual quality work done. even with quality work its debatable.. it could be quality work, and still look like crap to one guy and awesome to another. like plastic parts...). seemingly for you nonfunctional plastic parts is tasteful, for me its lame/cheap.
I don't like how the car in the OP ended up looking, especially knowing its plastic dip, and that it was a GT500

but its not my car, so if the guys happy with it, eh, its his car not mine
My buddy just did his mustang camo green plastic dip with gloss black roof/wing and a few other parts gloss black which is the color of the car, it came out really well,, people can hate on it but his car will have over 1000RWHP,,
