Gt500 Wheels Question

I was prowling around the internet today and found a picture of this sterling gray mustang with gt500 wheels.

I would love to get wheels like this for my car, but I'm not sure where to get them. I know american muscle has replicas, but they don't look the same to me. Is there anywhere I can get take offs or wheels that look exactly like these fairly cheap?

A place called buyfordracing.com had them at one time for $599 a set for OEM wheels, not sure if they still do.

beware there are two diff versions. The cheaper ones are 18" and cast. The ones I prefer are the forged 19"s

You won't find the 19's anywhere for a decent price though.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna go the cheaper route and buy the 18".

I'd like to just replace the wheels and keep the tires I have now. Is there a way I can just transfer the tpms sensors from the old wheels to aftermarket ones?

If you are running the stock 235/50/18 tires then this wheel will be too wide for them. The GT500 wheels are 9.5" wide where the stock GT wheel is 8" wide which is just about ideal for the stock size tire. You would really need at least a 255/45/18 for the 9.5" wide wheels. You can make the 235's go on the wheels but they will most likely wear funny.

But to answer your question, yes, you can transfer the sensors over to the new wheels.

In addition the 18" wheel is not the exact color as the 19" wheel. 19" is a painted wheel (gunmetal) and the 18" has machined outer surfaces...bright look and painted inside / in between spokes. That being said, they do sell also a set that is fully painted a darker color in the 18" but not the same as the OEM 19" wheel.

I had the 19" on my 2010 Grabber Blue and they looked awesome! Buying tires is a little more expensive but not crazy on the 19" wheels.

Best bet is to sell your current wheels with tires on craigslist (or even ebay, w/ local pickup only) and get the new wheels with that money. Then the tires for the 18x9.5" wheels would be the price of just the new wheels, basically (though you'd need new TPMS sensors, too).

buyfordracing.com still has them at $599.

Available other places as well.

And with tires already mounted (would need TPMS sensors, though).

Nope, the Brembos will fit just fine in the 18" GT500 wheels.

What brakes do you think the GT500 that originally came with these wheels had?

The GT500 coupes are 19", and the convertibles still 18", right? But point still stands -- Brembo's fit these 18" wheels.

I picked these up from late model resto for my sterling gray. They look great. My pic is on their site. Only word of caution is the 275 series is big up front and will rub at full turn. I installed the rousch spacers and rubbing went away and I can rotate tires if I want.

I know this is an old thread but can anyone think of any reason why the 19inch version of the GT500 wheels from 2010-2012 would NOT fit on a 2012 V6.

I'm guessing they would fit but anytime I see them advertised I also see them listed for GT and GT500 and not V6

Thanks
D

The V6 guy above you apparently had to use some spacers.
Not sure why cuz I'm using 275/40/18 on my SVT 18's and no rubbing here. Also lowered on Steeda Sport springs and Koni yellows ...
