Ford's Mustang GT Hood Scoop or not?
IMO (and no offense to anyone), but non-functional hood scoops are useless. That goes double for shaker hood scoops. If you're going to cut a hole in your hood, at least port the scoop to the air box.
I have heard but not seen that those scoops have a small gap along the edge where they meet the hood, if that is the case I say no because it looks exceptionally obviously all cosmetic at that point. They look good but from a performance standpoint the only add drag.
Additionally, there are a few functional aftermarket hoods with scoops you can get if you really are into the look. Of course, price will be a factor there.

I'm with musicman, I just don't see the point of mods for the purpose of looks only. They do nothing but cost money and create drag. Pointless, IMO, but it's your car. You should make your own decisions, make yourself happy, not everyone else. That's just me. :-/
Agreed here, wanted to say this earlier. It's your car and get what you like. Fact is, many of us have very passionate beliefs when it come to our options
There's no wrong answer but I much prefer function over form so no fake hood scoops, fake side scoops, window louvers, marginally effective rear spoilers, or even stripes for me. Having said that, the beauty of the mustang is it can be so endlessly customized to fit anybody's taste. I like that they all look so unique.
I say no. I originally test drove one with a hood scoop. My girlfriend (5'6") couldn't see over it. There was no way she was letting me buy that one, which was ok because it was an auto and I was looking for a manual. However, even I (6'3") had issues with the scoop, but I have to sit with the seat all the way back and low. If the car I got came with one I would live with it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to install one after the fact. But to each his own. Beautiful car btw.

On the '10-'12 hoods, I love the powerdome without adornments, in general.
I think this particular scoop's aesthetics are influenced by the car color. I've seen them on black and white cars and like the way they look. If it was on sterling gray like mine, I probably would think it looks "tacked on".
This all said, you are the most important judge of your car's appearance. Good luck with your decision.
It's a very rare car that I think looks better with a hood scoop, and that goes double for late model Mustangs. I think the hood used for 2010-12 is the most beautiful hood the Mustang has ever had. To add a non-functional hood scoop to this car is akin to adding Rodney Dangerfield to Mount Rushmore. It may get more attention but it's not an improvement.
