That big chrome..fake gas cap..THING was just not cutting it for me, I think it looks terrible IMO. So, I went and bought a can of gloss black paint and tried to make it look a little better.

Thoughts? Opinions?

I taped off the "flat black" to give it some contrast to the gloss and break it up so it didn't look like a glob of paint, even a factoryish look?

Looks good! Would like to see more pictures of it from afar to see how it fits in context of the rest of the car (instead of just close ups) if you can.

Looks great and forgive the stupid question, but how will it hold up long term? When washing with high a good stream of water will it come off? What kind of paint?

I painted the GT badges on my old 2001 with spray paint and 4 years later when I traded it in it still looked like the day I did it so I *think* he'll be good.

Looks great...thanks for the pics. I was thinking the same thing, with the exception of leaving the chrome unpainted and only doing the flat silver. I am not sure what the deal is with the companies making these pie plate size emblems. The worst I have seen is Mercedes, and VW.

Thank you. After I allow it a few days to setup and cure I THINK it'll be there forever.
My front emblem is also done and holding up for over a month now.

That would look great, I am just going more for the "blacked out" look. And ugh, your telling me....its one of my least favorite thing...

Well, I'll be the voice of dissent. I don't like GT faux cap. I like the blacked out even less. I DO like the Pony 'cap'.

Not bad but I certainly would have removed it before painting it.

That looks pretty cool. I think it will only look good on dark colors like black, lava red and kona blue.

I like the idea because I agree the stock look is a bit much... kind of like a Flava Flav clock necklace thing in that it's just too big.

I'd have to see it in person to know 100%, but I like the idea in theory anyway. Maybe not the WHOLE thing blacked out? Not sure.

I am happy with it, it takes a bit of the edge out of it and will go well with the all black out look.
