Closing the gap

I'm excited I feel I finally have found a way to close the gap on the trunk! A starting point I finally installed the ford deck lid panel, nice texture perfect fit! It eliminates the original GT trunk badge because the panel has it built in using same holes and tape lines takes about 10 min. This helps with the appearance but not the complete solution! I was surfing Ebay for new products found side marker trims in chrome as well as 3rd brake light trim. So I sent the seller an email and asked if he might make any trim for the tail lights or 1/4 glass, to my surprise tail lights are done but not on line yet! Bob sent me a picture you wont believe these I feel it will eliminate the gap! They look like trim around 70 Mach in design! Here is a picture if any one is interested I'll post details for contacting Bob, by the way he works for 3d Carbon no mention on Ebay bout this! I have a set on their way and once installed will post pics!

Those are hideous in chrome. Please post pics if you get a set and paint them black.

update w pics

Well here are some pics! I like them better in person. I may black around the inside edge like on the 60's lights and it really does fill the gap nicely! They are on ebay now!

Use a satin/trim black paint and this would sell truckloads!

Update after painted edges black

I agree the surrounds have to much chrome but after deliberating painting them before final install we came up with this mod of them in 1st picture! Around bottom level all trim in black, also sides of each division bars black and where it meets trunk side all black not only does it tone done the chrome effect it virtually eliminates the visual of a gap at the trunk! To each their own but I like the end results!

Eh... I'm not a fan of the chrome. Chrome worked good on the old Mustangs, because there was chrome in other places.

On these... not so much. But, that's just my opinion -- I'm sure there are people out there who love this look.

It's your car, so hopefully YOU'RE happy with it!

I'd prefer it in black, but still looks like a nice addition!

The whole thing has to be black. The chrome just doesn't look right.

Must.........be...................black........... .......

especially with the tinted tail lights (though, I would have left them stock (or at least lighter) to play up the trim.

That being said, there is still a very noticeable gap showing between the tail light trim and the center decklid trim -- especially in this pic/'chop

.

I agree there is still a gap at just the certain angles but this makes it less noticeable and in my opinion liveable! Black does look good! I'm still toying with maybe just the dividers and the last upper ridge around center only in chrome care to try that in a chop? Thanks Rampant

Well I think this works for me, not as much chrome and just the highest parts trim out the lights! I put a farther away shot in for you Redcandy I think black just wouldn't work with tinted lights! Next my hood scoop!

See, IMO that would look SO much better with the lights untinted and the covers painted black, like the GT350. I'd keep the reverse lights tinted though...
