I cringed when the antenna bounced off your car. So what do those caps do, and why is it okay to just cut the antenna?

me too... I'm not sure I'd do that on my car... the antenna isn't that big anyhow.

A) Control your cut ends. Always.

B) Real shorty antennas (at least the good ones) will engineer the antenna length down to the next fractional (i.e. from 1/8 wave to 1/16 wave or 1/4 wave to 1/8 wave). Just cutting it like that destroys your antenna performance. And it introduces opportunities for corrosion.

C) Man, how ghetto is that. Shorty antennas really aren't that expensive.

Shorty antennas aren't that expensive; Craven Speed's Stubby is less than $30.00 on amazon. I couldn't do that to my OEM antenna.

LOL, you really made a video on how to do this?

I did this a long time ago.

Just cut it, sand it, then color it black with a sharpie. It looks much better than any of the shorty antennas on the market....because it actually matches the black plastic base of the antenna!

You guys that think this is ghetto are ridiculous.

Btw we said hillbilly. A newer Mustang would never make it in a ghetto.

I don't see what the craze of getting a shorter antenna is all about.
The Mustang is blessed with an antenna of perfect size for where it's mounted, it works pretty good and isn't too big that you bump into it, or too short that you snag your clothing on it if you happen to get close
