"427" Emblem Placement

In honor of the impending completion of my 427w swap, I'm going to add highly polished stainless "427" emblems to the car. I already have the new-style "Powered By Ford" emblems on the fenders. The new "427" emblems are almost as wide as the PBF emblems, and about 5/8 inches tall.

The question is where would it look best.

The emblems *will* be going on the car, I'm just not sure where yet. I'm inviting opinion.

Can you post pics of what all the emblems look like so we can get an idea?

I, for one, want to help make sure that this beast looks right!!!!

Place them on the front fenders right above the PBF emblems/decals.

No don't do that.

I just looked up pics of your car. I vote for the lower side stripe, on the thicker section, centered between the wheel well opening and break for the door. Similar to where it would say GT500...

Or, just one 427 on the grille, offset to the passenger side.

I voted for the sides of the hood scoop. Keep the PBF on the fenders, leave the grille and foglamps as is and offset a TriBar.

I was thinking this too but I don't think the scoop is big enough for the 427 emblems...

I'd prefer them above the PBF emblems on the fenders.

Like the original Boss 429 decal placements!

I like the offset in the grille idea

If you really wanted to pay homage to the old school they would go on the fender just forward of the wheel well about even with the headlamp area. Not sure how that would look given the brief amount of space there.

That was my original thought but I don't think they would look good due to the severe angle leading towards the headlight. The originals were much more slab sided in that area...

That car is so bada$$, you might just as well plant one right square in the middle of the windshield!

From a friend:

"No emblem is needed. Everyone will know something is terribly wrong with your car when you start it and the carb tries to suck the hood into the intake."

Your friend makes a great point. Same with badging in the rear. Your exhuast will be doing all the talking.

Why not confuse the crap out of other drivers and stick V6 emblems with a Hybrid badge underneath? In a sense, it is.

As much as I dislike badges I think a 427 in a Mustang deserves a badge.

As for where I thought the front fenders beyond a doubt but now I don't know. I don't like the rear at all. The grill would be fine. I hate the idea of the rockers ala 80's crapmaros

It's come down to choosing between the hood scoop and the fenders. I'll be deciding tonight when I get the car back.

The most popular option has been the hood, followed by the fenders above the PBF badge.

I agree - a 427 in a S197 Mustang deserves - and demands - additional badging.
