2013 to 2012 front end conversion?

Hello everybody this is my first post and I've done a little bit of searching and didnt find much. So I have a 2013 mustang GT and I was wondering if I bought a 2012 style bumper and hood if they would fit on my car. Ive heard some yes and no sayers. Just looking for maybe some more info thanks.

You want to actually go from a 13+ style front, to a 12??? I love my 12 style, but this is the first I've heard of anyone going "backwards"... Hmmm

Anyways, I would think you'd need a new hood and entire front end (bumper and grille).

I guess one reason would be to lose the catfish lips around the grill that the 2013-14's have. It'd be pretty expensive though.

If you're changing out the hood and grille, you may not be able to find used ones from 2010-2012 with the same paint colors the 2013-14's came in, so consider the cost of painting the parts to match.

You could probably just find someone that would swap the parts from the '12 with you since the preferred front end is the '13-'14.

I've been considering this too because there are so few options for the '13 front end, but am trying to hold out for an aftermarket solution. I'd take a '12 Roush-, Saleen- or GT500-style that fits a '13 non-GT500 grille. I like the '13 grille surround, but I don't love the rest of the bumper and I could live without the surround if I had to. I believe it is doable, but I wonder how well things would bolt up.

I like the '12 more than the '13. However, I do like having a painted grille surround like the Boss. If you had that painted when you converted, it'd make it a little easier to live with at first.

I know a lot of times when you do a dramatic body change, it'll spook you at first making you think... oh thats too different!

Count me in as liking the 12 better.

To answer your question, Shelby designed the G.T.350 front fascia and hood back in 2010. They still use it on 2013 and 2014 cars that they are converting because the mounting points are the same.

That being the case, this tells me that the 2012 and 2013 fascias are interchangeable.

Add me to the 12 front being better club. When I bought my 12 in 2012, the 13 had launched. I love the 13 tail lights but overall I prefer the 12.

It is all completely interchangeable, you definitely can install the earlier front bumper assembly and hood on the later car. You will need the entire assembly though, brackets, grills, radiator cover, everything attached to the bumper cover.

Looks like this would run you about ~$600 for everything Ltngdrvr listed (assuming you get it all used), plus painting it all. Be expensive.

Here's the bumper, grills, and hood. Good price until you realize you have to ship it and paint it. And you'll still have to get everything else.

Best bet is to try the local wrecker and get the whole bumper with everything off of a car. You could also try www.car-part.com

Thanks I appreciate the help. Yes it's Prolly expensive but then again everything we do to our cars is expensive lol. This will most likely be a little ways down the road tho, im still trying to find me some wheels. I haven't really found wheels that just stick out to me that I really want.

My bad, most people I have talked to like the '13-'14 better. I didn't mean to offend anyone.

I'm not offended either. I have a '14, but liked the front end of my '11 better. I like the rest of my '14 better, though.
