2013-14 GT500 Front Bumper Conversion

I have a 2012 GT and just purchased all of the parts to convert the front bumper/grill to a 2013-14 GT500. I purchased all of the parts from Ford. Are there any detailed instructions or video instructions on doing the swap out there? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Good luck with it. I watched a body shop specializing in mustangs, do mine. For the most part it's not that difficult. There are some videos on youtube on how to remove the GT bumper. Putting the gt500 on in it's place involves mostly just using the replacement parts in the same order. I don't have a floor jack which is why i took it to a shop.

Do you have a parts list and part numbers that you ordered from Ford?

Thanks

Yes. I'm sailing for a couple days but can scan and email it mid week.

Alternatively, contact Mike R at Tousley Ford. I think he may already have a parts list for a straight up conversion.

i think you're looking at around 2,000 including the bumper. Then factor in paint on top of that.

I ordered all of the parts from AutoNation Ford and it all came in just under $2K. I am also doing the rear bumper and hood. Everything is in the paint shop now. I'll post some pictures once it's done. For anyone interested, I am going to take some pictures of the install of the front and rear bumper also. I am also doing a 2014 headlight conversion!!! So lots of pictures!!!

Also, if anyone is interested, I am going to sell the original 2012 GT Front and Rear bumper and hood. Car has always been garaged and has less than 6K on it so everything is in excellent like new condition. The front bumper is complete with grill and fog lights.

sounds about right. Glad you are going for it! Mine is a show stopper now. I get so many compliments and the GT badging keeps it clean and legit. with a hood it looks much more 'connected'.

post pics for sure.

I got the 2014 GT500 grill so it has the Cobra as part of the grill but I'm keeping my GT and 5.0 badging. I do like the Cobra though!! I just don't want any "Shelby" badging on it. What did you do with the cobra in the grill? or did you do a different grill?

What color is your car? And I see you're in NorCal! I'd love to see your air ride and Whipple in person! I was saving for a Kenne Bell, but I might go Whipple if it screams loud enough for me...

I bought the Siebon carbon fiber grills that have no cobras on them

another member, The5 has rejigged a 5.0 emblem and placed it on top of the placeholder for the cobra. It looks good too. There are lots of options that you can place on top to hide the cobra mounting plate.

The carbon fiber looks sweet!!! I am going to see how I like the cobra on there and decide what to do with it later. I definitely like the clean no badge look of the carbon fiber too.

hello Darren i live in aberdeen maryland, we are doing auto repair classes on this donated base 2013 mustang, it was donated from a local salvage yard with a bent frame, so it cannot be titled or driven on the road. in fact it doesnt even have an engine. we are only doing outter body repairs . again thanks for responding. we will be dismantling it at end of classes and be reused for next years classes. all the body parts are different colors lol but the kids get the idea, a local maco paint shop may donate a cheap paint job to have all body panels match. the car right now looks like jacobs coat of many colors lolol . a couple years ago we were donated a old 1992 camero and it finally became so beat up from applying and dismantling parts to teach classes, 2 years ago we sold it for scrap and thats where part of the budget money came from to pay or parts we dont get as donated . ok Darren hope you had a bless holiday and even better new prosperous new year
sincerely
ryan
