Arrow 2011 Faux Gas Cap Details!

Not finding an answer elsewhere, I thought I'd post all the details here for the Faux Gas Cap on the 2011's.

*I was intending to replace it with a decal...

Here's the Faux Gas Cap:

Here's what it looks like underneath:
*Notice it is NOT a smooth surface under there! Any kind of a flat badge or decal will NOT work here!

The back of the gas cap, and the 2 plastic collars that hold it in place:

Close-up of the collars:

I wanted to replace the cap completely, so I had a decal made to fit there. It's a flat decal, pretty good-quality, just what I wanted, too...

The decal is 7" tall x 8" wide. The "3D effect" is printed on, looks pretty good in-person.

**Anyone want to buy a custom decal? Tri-Bar Pony! $50 inc. shipping!

^ Well... I searched all over the place and didn't find any mention of how this thing is actually attached, or that it's NOT a flat surface underneath. That's the reason for my post.

I could only find the Roush one. And considering that I currently only have a Roush exhaust, it didn't seem like the way to go.

Would love to get something else in there...

How about the Boss cap? All it has is the Tri-bar pony emblem doesn't it? That's much better than "GT" imo.

I found this kind of interesting, but once I showed to some friends they shot it down quickly.. peer pressure!

(specifically post 46, but the "Ford Racing" one looks nice too)

What I'd like ultimately is the entire cap being painted flat black, with the ford letters in silver, and instead of a GT emblem, a 5.0 emblem, with the numbers being silver, and the "." being red.

Something like this:

V6 & Boss caps are the same. Laguna Seca is the exception.

I thought about doing mine in black chrome, similar to the finish on the 2010 GT front emblem.

Another option you have is the CDC blank panel for the back. It removes the cap entirely. I also think TruFiber has a CF panel.

Those don't work because the surface of the trunk isn't flat!
Which is why I made this thread.

Yes, they both work because they were designed for the 10+

Apologies. I thought you were referring to the replacement gas caps ON the panels...

I'll have to take a better look at those!

I spoke with a local guy about coating mine in black chrome to match my 2010 pony on the front. Stay tuned...
