Cool V-6 Engine Cover Came today.

My engine cover came today. I ordered it from Blue Oval Industries. $139.95 with free shipping. The cover also came with the two grommets for the top and an oil tube extender that holds down the bottom of the cover. Since the cover is made for the manual transmissioned Mustangs, i had to cut out a place for the second hose that the automatics (mine is an automatic) have. Its made out of rubber and not hard plastic like i thought it would be. My engine sounds a little more quiet, to me anyway The engine bay looks so much better Its rainy today so the picture isn't very good.

I still wish they made the cover so it goes over the upper intake plenum too.

Be happy they made a cover at all. For the 05-10 4.0 they didn't bother to make one like they did for the GT. The after market choices were also very limited and ugly in my opinion. I never liked the after market choices so I made my own. I covered the plenum and coil pack. The pony in the center is not painted on, it is a separate plastic cut out (also made it myself) that is attached on top of the cover.

Thanks man I appreciate it. I'm glad you like it, I have had others criticize it because they say it's not symmetrical. That's because I decided to cover the coil pack also. Aside from my idea for a plenum cover, I have only seen one other person have a custom plenum cover and they decided to also cover the coil pack. Below that one is what I'm sure you have all seen which is the mass produced after market cover for the 4.0. Just looks like a shoe box to me.

Well, I don't know if I'd go that far...

But, I can appreciate the craftsmanship.

OP looks great your engine bay is very factory appearing with the stb C&L and engine cover to bad they don't come that way
I want one but hate the thought of paying $140+for a piece of designer plastic really wish they we're more like $80-$100 anyone else feel the same? Or is $140-$160 depending on where you buy it reasonable to you?

Thanks for all the nice comments.

chronos, the engine cover you made looks pretty good.

$139.95 is the cheapest price i could find. My dealer wanted more plus i was going to order and pay extra for the mounting hardware I think the prices might come down in a year or so.

Thanks David. I was starting to think I was one of those unappreciated artists whose art is only appreciated after they die. If they had made one as attractive as yours for mine, I would have grabbed it also.

On the price of the new cover I wouldn't count on it going down. I think David struck himself a pretty good deal there. The shoe box cover for the 4.0 has stayed the same $199 and hasn't changed any, even with the 4.0 being obsolete now. Prices for Mustang stuff don't really seem to drop any. They know people will pay it.

That would be nice Ken. The cover really does cut down on all the little clicking sounds of the engine.

What strut bar is that you have and where did you get it? I like it very much, maybe even better than the stock one you can get. Do you notice any handling difference?

Its from BMR. All strut tower braces work about the same. They cut down body flex when doing hard turns for quicker and more stable turn-in.

Did you need any additional part for the engine cover to install it?

Was the BMR strut brace part here: http://www.bmrsuspension.com/index.c...&productid=196

I only see parts for the GT, so I'm assuming that one still works for the V6.

The ones sold early didn't come with everything. Now they are sold 'with' the two rubber grommets and the oil filler extender.
