Throttle body spacer for airaid cai
#3
I think spacers are a waste of money. The best explanation I have found for why the might do anything at all is that they simulate a longer intake runner which just shifts your tq band slightly lower and should lose you some top end hp. However, it is also increasing the space between the throttlebody and valves, which is just dulling responsiveness.
Think about it this way: one of the big benefits for an ITB setup is that TBs are as close as possible to the valves, so they are super responsive. Similarly, many GT guys switch to the boss intake with shorter runners so that they have more top end hp, even though it loses them a little tq in the low end.
I think you're better off saving the money for something proven like headers or intake porting.

Wow...so your saying there is NOTHING to be gained by having a TB spacer? You say it lowers top end HP? Is it so drastic that it would nullify all other mods? Tune, intake, exhaust?

Basically people, if you don't have a throttle body injected fuel system, don't buy a TBS.

I don't think there is anything to be gained. It might shift your tq curve down a little, but I can't say for sure. That estimate is based on a guess about how it's supposed to work, but I'm not sure if it's an accurate one. The only way to be certain is a dyno.
