Thoughts for next Mod
Thoughts for next Mod
Going to buy the Cervinis Ram Air type IV hood after the winter for a cosmetic boost but I am wondering what my next performance mod should be. I have added a BBK CAI, Bama tune and exhaust. What will I get out of the larger throttle body? Or should I look into new headers or a one piece drive shaft? Or is there another direction I should be going? Pretty new to this so any advice will be appreciated.
Headers would be a good next mod. Check out the threads on shorty headers but if your looking for all out performance I would go with long tubes. Throttle body is not that great of a buy (cost v. gain). I didn't notice much of a change when I added it with cai and tune when I had my '12.

If you're looking to get the best bang for your buck, I'd recommend going with a set of Gears. These are going to be the most beneficial mod for the cost of the actual item! The other items are also very important to your build as well.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions or need some assistance in the near future!

As to your actual question, you should establish what you want to do with the car before deciding what to mod next.

also, anybody already have it? they say it improves mpg.. and low end torque, anybody experience this?

Great comment. I want it all I guess. Its a daily driver so I do not want to let the gas mileage drop out all the way.
The want the car to stand out. I will work on the looks little by lettle and that is all my personal preference. The mechanical end, I do not know enough about engines to figure out what each product will give versus money/mileage/performance.
I keep reading that more air will get you better mileage and performance.(larger throttle body, headers)
Then comes the loose the weight and you get better mileage. (Driveshaft)
The gears is a new thought. I would imagine that would be a pure performance boost but what would that cost in mileage?
I want to say that I love the tunes. I occasionally switch between the 87 street and 87 performance and i can tell the difference. It probably really doesnt save me much but the tuner is new to me so I am playing around to try and learn a little.
I appreciate all the ideas. keep them up and I will look into them all.
Thanks

Get the TruFiber hood. It comes with the ram air duct built into it. The ram-air "kit" for the Cervini's hood is not yet available, and if they lag behind like they have on their 2010-2012 hoods, it'll be at least two years before you ever see it being available. Further, if you ever call to inquire about its availability, their favorite response is "4 to 6 weeks". Go ahead. Ask me how I know. My 2010-12 Type 4 STILL doesn't have a ram air kit available for it, and every time it rains, my engine compartment gets MUCH more crapped up than usual. Consider yourself warned.

Installing a hood scoop and painting the calipers this weekend. I may get a new hood in time but I have written that idea off for now. The scoope and calipers will end up with a major apearance boost and the cost is minimal. It pays to to research.
On to next research item, I will be adding new rims and tires after winter. Going to keep the stock set for winter driving. While researching I ended up really liking the Charcoal AMR wheels, not decided on the actual tire yet. Leaves me with 2 questions;
1) I like the AMR's appearance way more than any other wheel that I have see. But why are they so much more affordable? And am I loosing anything by not speending the extra money on a higher priced wheel?
2)As mentioned earlier, the new wheels will be for late spring, summer, and early fall. What type of tire should I be looking for, the best bang for the buck?
I want to get a shout out to American Muscle as well. I love that web site. I have been searching all the others and none are even close to the ease of use or informative as AM.

The hood showed up with a few blimishes. I plan to take it to a local shop and see what it will cost to fix the finish. Went a head and painted the calipers and they look great. So far they have drawn more attention than anything else I have done. Kept me stoked all week long.
Then today my new BBK 73 mm throttle body showed up. Very easy instal. It took lnger to put the new tune on than it did to put the htrottle body on. Anyway I like it alot. I took it for a test run and I am happy. More pickup, faster punch and the exhaust sounds a bit nicer.

Hood is at a shop getting tuned up as we speak. I hope to have it installed by next weekend.
Newist interest is the tablet mod. I am loving this option. It apears that a few members have done a lot of work on this mod and I hope to take advantage of their labors. Anyone interested should take a look at the thread put out by zeroaviation I believe. It sounds like he has figured out a few of the issues that most have ran into. Shout out to zero and his work.

Do you have an automatic or manual transmission? If you have a manual, I hear that a good shifter is a great mod to have. I have had one sitting in my living room for a week, I can't wait to install the thing! Otherwise, I would probably go for a driveshaft.

Miss printed. I pushed to hood mod off due to the hood I wanted was not set up with ram air. So I ordered a scoop for now. Its still at the shop so not installed yet. I cant complain because the fix was for the right price. 0 and you cant beat that. Will post some picks once it is installed.
I got my galaxy 2 7in installed a few days ago. Im real happy with the performance and ease of use. Im not so happy with the job I did on the bezel. It looks ok for now but im going to have to pull it and redo when I have a little more time. I had to get it in so my son could use it for his Home coming dance so I kind of ruched it. I do recomend a spare bezel for this. So I am looking for one if anyone pulls their's for any reason.
These were taken when I got the scoop in. You can not tell in the pictures but it has a few blemishes so thats why I didnt instal it. A buddy of a buddy's sister cousins uncle(or something like that) has a body shop and owed my friend a favor so its getting fixed at not cost.
Not sure why they are sideways but they are there. Here is one of the cai and 73mm throttle body I installed. Plus the calipers I painted. I need to clean her up one day and do a little photo shoot.

Here is my install of my iPad HD
I used plexiglass for the custom bezel.
Wow that tab is huge. Not been on for a while and with good reason. Well for me anyway.
As I mentioned my son was borrowing the car for homecoming. Well he wrecked it, a littke hydroplaning on a Saturday night. Will be another week or so till I get her back from the shop.
