I maintain this info on another mustang forum. The info comes from users, manufacturers, resellers etc.

Oh ok. So the weight you gave above is for a 17x7 on the 215mm tires?

Cause if it is thats great news! Means the rims i want are lighter

Yes, that's the weight for the base and premium 17" wheels. They are identical other than paint. I know the 225/60-17s which come with the MT82 weigh 28lbs. I'm sure the 215/65-17s do too. Here's a link to the spreadsheet:

Wow that list is impressive! Great job man and thanks again for clearing that up for me. So this mean if i switch out from my current 17x7 on 215 tires to these rims/tires - http://www.americanmuscle.com/matteb...tomo-stan.html - i would either stay the same or save weight?

I know the weight of the rims says 25 lbs. But i dont know the weight of the tires

Well according to amazon, the 215/65R17 michelin energy saver tires weight is 24.4 lbs. So 24.4+26= 50.4 lbs.

I checked the tire rack site you recommended, the tires i mentioned above weigh 29 lbs. So 29+25= 54 lbs. How much of an impact do you think an extra 4lbs per wheel will have on MPG?

Thanks!!

I went from 225/60-17 to 245/45-19 & 275/40-19 and lost about half an mpg. Got it back and then some with an aluminum DS, throttle body and ported manifolds.

My last three tanks of gas averaged 28.7, 29.4 and 29.1, so I'm still getting the factory rated fuel economy even though I also have 3.73 gears.

I believe my front wheels/tires weigh 59lbs and my rears weigh 61lbs. Heavy but look nice IMO.

i think most aftermarket wheels you look at that are "performance" oriented will be lighter

If you're going with lighter rims, just look for forged wheels. You should be able to save 5+lbs per corner. The thing you need to consider is whether or not you'll ever upgrade the brakes since most big brake kits will not fit inside a 17" or sometimes even an 18" wheel.

Ive heard of this but also heard theyre much more expensive. The ones i linked above seemed to me to be good quality at a fair price. I wont be racing or anything extreme so ill probably never upgrade the brakes. This is my daily driver, what im basically going for is driving a car everyday that i completely like.. And thats somewhat practical lol balance

Thanks!

I have the same stock wheels and I really like the looks, but most of all I love how easy they are to clean. I can keep them looking good with minimal effort.

You like the stock rims? They do look nice.. I just dont like how skinny the tires are(215). I prefer the 255/45R18 with bullitts

Replacing the PP wheels for another 19" while keeping the weight about the same will be though especially if going wider wheels. Of course this is if you are not just going for looks.
