So I think I'm too loud (axle back content)

I've had my coupe for a couple a weeks now. If you've seen my other posts, you may already know I had the FRPP V6 Handling Pack and FRPP Sport Axleback Mufflers installed at the dealer before I took delivery of the car.

I knew I wanted more rumble than stock, but was torn between the Ford Racing Sport vs Touring mufflers. I went with the Sport Mufflers Ford Racing M-5230-MV6LA (similar to Borla Stingers). I really enjoy the sound when you get on it but not so much when cruising between 1750 and 2000 RPM. Not a drone, but a little too "upfront" for me. I guess I am willing to give up some the awesome roar for a little less of delta in db between on throttle and off.

I think I have decided to "downgrade" to either the Borla or FRPP Touring axle backs. Anybody have either that would be willing to trade? Otherwise I'm just going to order the Borla's from AM and eBay the FRPPs.

If you want we can swap mufflers. I have the original PP mufflers and they are much louder than the other stock mufflers. But they sound great when you get on them and quiet when you drive normally. I want those FFRP Sport ones haha

Thanks for your offer but I'm looking specifically for pretty new Borla or FRPP Tourings. My Sports only have 150 miles on them.

I think what I'll do is put the stock mufflers back on this weekend then list my FRPP Sports here in the classified and on eBay.

Car looks good, congrats!
Do you have a vid clip of the mufflers? I have a friend that is interested in trade. He has the Borla Tourings with 3000mi on them.

I will this weekend but Borla's YouTube video
comparing the Borla Touring, Stinger and ATAK mufflers is a pretty good representation. Mine sound like the Borla S.

The interesting thing is though, my mufflers don't make that fast "brap, brap, brap" sound after I rev it then let off.

Thanks I will ask him to listen to the borla S. on the site. Will let you know his thoughts.

You have an auto or stick tranny? Cuz manuals have resonator deletes from factory so it pops like that

No the package was suspension only. Check out my post in the suspension sub forum. The mufflers were over and above.

Automatic, factory tune. The factory auto shift points are why it sounds so off/on. I was looking for a quieter system (but deeper than stock) so there wasn't the large delta in volume between off and on throttle.

I understand that manuals have a much better advantage. You can play your mufflers like bending a string on a guitar

No I haven't.

I've had a couple of PM's regarding outright sale. I'm really on the fence about this whole thing because I don't know if I am being too picky about the sound or not. 85% of the time I love them. Hands Free calls to work and other situations like that, not so much.

I was hoping for a trade for Borla Tourings with less than 500 miles on them. If that's not going to happen, I'll decide this weekend whether not I will take them off and sell the outright. They are used but I won't give them away.

Have a listen to these, I paid 300 with free shipping from AM. They are combined with the short headers. but there is a before video to show the headers with stock muffs.
SiberExpress has the headers with the BorlaTourings. Check out his vid also when you get a chance(not sure hwat cam he used, I used a goPro3. I think his setup is louder, but he does have an FRPP xpipe installed also.
This vid is without my xpipe, which goes in tomorrow

Been reading your post and would like to know what you mean by "delta" in your description of the sound of your axle backs. Could you please clarify?

The difference in volume inside the car when the car is under load vs coasting.

Thank you to all those that expressed interest in the mufflers but I decided to grow a pair and keep them.

They just sound so good that my callers will just have to put up with a little growl in the background. I also own a 2012 Cadillac SRX. If I want quiet, I'll use that.

I was initially shopping for Magnaflow Street (15595) for the wife's V6, but actually found the Borla Touring (11793) running cheaper than Magnaflow.

Nothing against Magnaflow (I've used them on 5 previous vehicles) - They USED to have some great prices, but unless you catch a sale, they've upped the price point quite a bit the last couple years.

Right now, I was able to pick up the Borla's $50 cheaper....
