New to modding - 2011 V6

Hey guys, I have very little car knowledge but recently got a 2011 V6 Mustang and am loving it. I am interested in relatively simple mods to slightly amp up the performance and learn some basics. A friend recommended I look into a new exhaust and intake, followed by a tune. Got any advice on where to start? I don't think I want to spend more than 2 grand on these mods, which from what I hear is plenty.

For any 3.7 I would suggest the first mod be an MPT tune, then wheels/tires, gears, and exhaust. If you have money left over, driveshaft and ported intake manifolds.

I'm sure someone with more experience here can correct me, but I know of two ways. I bought the tuner from a shop when getting some other mods done that required it, so they tuned it for me. If you do some research, there are also places that will sell you a tuner the is per-programed. You tell them exactly what you have, and they set the parameters based on their database. Then, you simply follow directions required to apply the tune to your car.

Side note, doing this will void most warranties.
