More gear questions
I have done a ton of reading on this topic, but still am not sure. My car is a '14 v-6 with the 6mt. I would like to regear it, but am not sure which gears to get. I am pretty much torn between the 3.55, and 3.73 ratios, but haven't completely ruled out 3.31. I drive my car about 100 miles each day, and most of that is on the turnpike at 75mph. I know there is no free lunch, so I don't want to go too far and see a big change in my fuel economy. I do want the extra acceleration and better passing and hill climbing, though. I am sure that I would love the 3.73s, but not sure if I could live with them every day. My overall mileage now is 26.2. I would like to see what others have gotten for fuel economy before and after their gear changes, as well as their rpm at 75mph. I am also concerned that my exhaust may get a bit loud with the 3.73 gears at speed. If not for the time I spend on the turnpike, I wouldn't be concerned.

agreed! I am in the same boat as you are with gears. Drive about 80 miles/day, mostly highway. I think our cars are plenty powerful with the stock 2.73, and the higher you go, you'll get quite a drop in mpg.

I've had 3.55 gears in my '12 V6 and I would still get 20-21 city and 29-30 highway. There was onlu a slight drop in mpg. Like 1-2 mpg. I think 3.55 is perfect for our V6 and if mpg isn't a concern for you or if you don't do much hoghway driving then 3.73 will work just the same but be more fun!

I rarely achieve 33 mpg, the sweet spot for that is grandma'd @ 65 with my gearing.
Anyone else have sweet spots?!

Just get a 5.0 with 3.31's. Your mileage gain is negligible in your v-6's. I get 30-31 mpg with cruise set at 55 mph. However. I do have an automatic.
