2012 Exhaust Different?

Saw a new 2012 V6 on a dealer's lot with different exhaust tips than my 2011. Did not have the smaller tips inside the larger chrome tip? It was a 6 speed manual if that matters. Tip diameter was also larger. What's up?

I noticed a difference too last time I was at my dealer. My car has the larger stainless tips w/ no smaller tip inside. I saw one that had what sounds like your tips. They were more bell-shaped and smaller.

I'm sure Ford had some NVH issue they were trying to change. Automatic cars also have resonators just behind the cats and manual cars don't.

I was under my car this weekend and it has round rubber blocks just behind the cats, are these resonators? They look like they're used to dampen sound some how.
The cars a 2012 V6 PP manual.

Don't know about round rubber blocks, sounds like some sort of vibration dampening, but a PP manual car would not have resonators.

The resonators on the automatics are small, short, round straight through mufflers directly behind the cats in the exhaust.

Ok Thanks, there is the same looking thing attached to the back of the mufflers. I think you're right about the vibration thing, that was kinda what I was thinking when I saw them.

The next question....has anyone tried the 6 speed manual mufflers on an automatic? The definitely look cooler with the bigger tip.

Regardless of look of the Manuel...I'm changing mine. I hate not being able to hear myself driving down the road. If I wanted quiet...I would've bought a Prius...
