14 V6 ECU reset

So since I got this in June it continues with the odd shifts on auto and around 2nd to 3rd gear when I get on it power seems to drop a bit before hitting next gear. I originally tried the gas pedal reset last month for trans module but not sure it worked.
So today I tried the hard reset. pulled negative off for 35-40 minutes, also pressed brake and turned headlights on to try and drain any residual power. After reset the acceleration seems just slightly better but still a lag in gas pedal. The only mod I am aware of it came with a Flowmaster exhaust. After reset the radio and sirius settings went away however it kept the trip odometer mileage, the custom color settings and my sync settings to my iphone. So did I actually get a full reset? I also was wondering if previous owner tried a custom tune and it just sucked which explains why reset didn't do anything? I was planning on getting an sct next year when I got the CAI and maybe some headers. Thanks for any ideas.

Bill

You most definitely need to determine if the previous owner did a custom tune upgrade? Until your able to get an SCT hand-held tuning device, I would suggest taking your car to your nearest Advance Auto parts store, let them know about the power issues going on and suspect that the previous owner may have re-flashed the vehicle with an aftermarket calibration tune... Then ask if they can hook up one of their hand-held scanning devices which should determine if the stock tune is still in the vehicle's PCM or if its aftermarket?

Also, how many miles are on the vehicle? it's also possible that your spark plugs may also require replacement, depending on the mileage.... In the meantime, hope the info provided may be useful?

Boy, sounds like something is not quite right. I am with Rocky on this one. Find out about the status of the cars tune, spark plugs swap, throttle body clean, maybe even a check of the air filter.

Thanks for the suggestions. So yesterday we took a 280 mile round trip 90% on highway and when I went to work today it seemed a bit better as the computer is learning my driving habits but when I jumped on it a bit still had that weird slight power drop between 2-3. I have 71k miles and I did think about the plugs was going to change out over the winter and possibly a bad cp. Will def go to advance and see if they can tell me if it is stock tune.

Ecu reset and power drop

Couple of things…I own 2013 v6 and sometimes ecu has nothing to do with smooth shifting. When I got my car I did following things: Changed differential fluid, n replaced with Royal Purple fluid, immediately got smoother shifting. Second, replaced trans fluid n filter, both got noticeable improvements….Also put in new Blue Streak ignition coils n NGK fine wire plugs…..my car zooms!
Sometimes going back to basics is all a car needs…mine now has 76k on it . Just trying to help…one other thing…clean the throttle body and MAF sensor, mine were filthy and it’s easy to remove, get new throttle body gasket too. Definitely noticed improvements in performance. Immediate throttle response was noticeable.

Hi Roy thanks for your thoughts on this. The trans actually shifts smooth but under 3/4 to full throttle it has that slight power drop off before going to third which is weird. When I got the car two months ago as part of the deal I made the dealer change out the filter and fluid because I knew it was going to need to be changed anyway. I do think the plugs in new coil packs would definitely make a difference. But from all the different threads I read everyone says a tune will definitely get those shift points up higher and better than the factory ones.
