Vortech and kenne bell owner in put

I'm looking for some reviews on these two set ups. Such as street drive ability, traction and how it pulls. I'm leaning towards vortech for cost and I feel like it would be a good set up for a street car with very little track usage.

Cant really go wrong with either. It just depends what you want. Roots style blower will give you full boost faster. Not always a good thing but a lot of times it's great. The vortec is more of a gradual boost but really strong on the upper rpm range. I would love to use a centrifugal style blower on my car. A lot more streetable on normal driving. That instant power you get with the KB can get you into situations that are not so predictable sometimes. My dyno graph is almost a flat line from 2500-6500 where a centrifugal blower set up starts a little lower and gradually just keeps adding power. Really need to find a couple cars with either set up and get to ride in them. Again, can't go wrong either way. Also check what supporting parts each one will require. $$$

Im pretty confident that vortech comes as a complete turn key system starting around $5,100 depending on color finish. I have been leaning towards vortech as well. Also i think KB is a twin screw not roots, correct me if I am wrong.

The vortech kit is a 100% complete kit- nothing mor to buy. I have been running it since they pre-released 1 1/2 years ago. I am about to upgrade only the tune to Brenspeed. It is the only thing I would change. Pm me if you want more details.

Thanks guys all great info. The vortech will be cheaper for sure and the way I've been thinking faster for the street bc of the way it builds boost and not hits right away. Plus the dyno graphs I've looked at seems to me the vortech climbs faster in less rpms so once you get to the sweet spot it should be crazy. Plus the torque hit looks more manageable on the street. I'm not into hitting the floor and blowing the tires off. I wanna hit the gas and leave people in the dust.

Definitely better for street tires. KB will roast them at the line.

Best rear gears for the vortech kit and what's a good size injector? I'm looking at 60lbs

I wouldn't run anything steeper than a 3.55 gear. As for injectors, look at ID1000's. Good up to 1,000RWHP. Plenty of boosted guys run them without any problems. Both street and track cars.

look at the paxton kit! its a bigger head unit than the vortech's v3 and will support 1000rwhp if and when your motor can be built! Also the paxton kit is cheaper than the vortech's kit! I am not sure they are vendors here but JPC racing has the best kits for the paxton's. You will not find a better centrifical unit that can stand up to the PAxton 2200 kit for the money.

A base kit will put you in the 575-620 rwhp..

I was one of a few running the 2.8 KB blower on my 2011 5.0 in Socal

I also had a couple friends with both Vortech and Paxton blowers.
We never raced each other but we did mess around a little on cruises.

I loved the KB and they were happy with their choice of superchargers.
The KB was very streetable and my car was a daily driver with 3.73's

sure I could light up the tires into 4th gear if I got on it but there was no problem just driving normal on the street.

I had forged pistons and con rods and upgraded suspension, brakes etc

but stock fuel pump and 47# injectors that came with the KB kit.
My car was dyno tuned at ST Motorsports and made 580rwhp at around 9lbs

It may cost more upfront for the KB but I feel it's worth every penny.
The acceleration under boost was wicked and it just did not stop.

I sold my car last year and got something a little more tame lol
a Honda Fit with a whopping 117hp

I'm not on the Mustang forums much anymore but saw your thread and wanted to chime in.

You really can't go wrong with any of the current blowers for the 5.0 but the tune is the key.

You can't go wrong with any supercharger choice IMO. I went with the Paxton though. I feel it's the best bang for the buck. I made 622rwhp and 466tq STD in 95 degree Texas heat. My mods are Boss intake, lethal o/r h pipe, ID1000 injectors, and Vortech BAP. The car is a blast to drive on the street. Drives like stock until you get on it, then hold on! The Paxton is pretty efficient, I'm showing about 7.5 lbs of boost through the stock air box. Good luck with your choice.

Thanks guys for more great info. I like both kits and it helps getting info on both. I wish I could test drive both of the kits but that doesn't work so first hand experiences really helps. Now I just have to decide and find the right tuner for the job.

Why'd you sell the killer pony? For a fit?

Does the Paxton kit come with everything you need? Fuel pump, injectors, etc? Pure bolt on with a box tune? I don't really have any good tuners in my area.
