Tuner Question

I have a bama hybrid tune and love it. My only concern is when gradually accelerating when the engine is still cold, it accelerates real choppy. Once it reaches operating temperature, it smooths out. Is this normal? Have others encountered this as well? Also worried about running too rich or too lean. Is there any way to tell without installing gadges? I heard running rich is not really bad but lean is. I'm scared of damaging the engine and may switch to the less aggressive street tune. Would appreciate your thoughts.

My 05 does the same with a Brenspeed x-cal2. It may have something to do with their mod tuning that the PCM needs to be in Closed Loop before throttle control smooth's out. That's my guess. One of the tuner sponsors here may be able to explain better.

With my manual trans I just slightly ride the clutch till I get out of my back lane where I get control back in that short distance.

That's good to know. One of my friends said that it could be from the tune dialing up extra fuel even though the engine is still cold.

We can definitely look into your tune for you and see what's going on. We can make some quick adjustments to your tune to try and tune out the choppiness when on a cold start! Sending us over some datalogs is going to be the best way to see what's going on, we can also check your Air/Fuel ratio and stuff to make sure you're not running to lean or rich.

I hope this helps! Shoot me a PM with your order number included and I'll get you in direct contact with a Bama tuning specialist.
