Am I the only freak show that scrubs his AB before installing?

I am going to install my GT500 Axle-Backs tomorrow and I just opened the box. It was a ****ing mess. There were scratches and scuffs and red and gray marks everywhere. I suppose from the torch and solder (duh). So, I figured I'd either ***** to AM(I felt they were worse than usual) or clean them. So away I scrubbed for the past half hour. I cleaned them up pretty nice except for the nicks and scratches. I can't be the only OCD nutcase to do this. I'd almost like to be though, for OCD bragging rights...

I think this is normal for an OEM part, most OEM factory parts dont get the attention aftermarket parts do. As long as the tips are in good condition, I would not be worried about those little scratches.
The stock mufflers look like they're made of stainless steel. If so, scrubbing with steel wool will cause them to rust! The wool disrupts the surface of the stainless and imbeds steel/iron particles which will rust and cause rusting of the base metal. You could use fine sandpaper or, better, a Scotch-Brite pad to clean them up. Just be sure the paper or pads were never previously used on steel or iron.
