Tuner Help.

Hello all. I'm new to the forums, but a long time Mustang driver. I bought a used 2011 5.0 last spring and it had a bunch of mods already done to it. One of which was a "Custom dyno tune" from a local shop called DaSilva racing. Anyway, I didn't get a handheld tuner or anything when I purchased the car, and the dealer told me their mechanic had to "detune" it for it to pass emissions when they registered it for me.

So my question is, if I buy a handheld tuner, can I save that custom tune on it? Can I go down to a 87 tune to pass emissions then revert back to my custom tune? And will this custom dyno tune be better then a bama tune sent through the mail? Thanks a lot.

You're in Canada right? If so I would go back to DaSilva and talk to Matt or someone there and explain the situation at hand before I go driving the car around. You will need a tuner that is calibrated to your engine so that it will save the tune IIRC.

Yes. A handheld will allow you to save the so called stock tune to pass emissions then you can reload custom tire smokn tune.
