TracKey for 5.0L Mustang GT ???

So any news when and if Ford will have a TracKey set up for our 5.0s? Sure like the fact you can have the "old day" rumopy rumpy cam sound without changing cams. If they can do this on the BOSS 302 , they can do it to ours too.

Yeah, I don't see it happening. People are writing SCT tunes to replicate that sound already, but you're not gonna get a two-key setup in your GT without a lot of work.

Yea, I'm looking forward to seeing how some of those tunes sound and if they have any downside. I know they can get it so it only does it when you are sitting at an idle and to switch back to normal once you push the gas.

I do have the SCT tuner already from American Muscle and they offer FREE LIFETIME TUNES. So I hope they are working on having a tune that makes the car idle like it has bad *** cams. I really need it!

Why would you want it to idle rough to pretend there are better cams in it?
why not just actually get cams? seems pointless to me.

I don't want to "pretend I have better cams". I like the sound and you can get the sound with out spending a fortune on new cams. Replacing 4 cams is not going to be cheap no matter how you do it.

Exactly. Why would anyone spend $2,000 to have the sound, if they can achieve it from the factory computer for **** well free. With variable timing the beauty is the technology is there to make the computer do the work for you.
Don't get me wrong. I understand that "real cams" make huge performance gains but, I'm look for that bad *** idle without the expense and Ford has proved you can have it too with the BOSS 302 Trackey.

Yea, pretty much. I doubt it could match that kind of sound exactly, but would love for it to sound close to that.

The reason the boss sounds like it has lopey cams is because it DOES have lopey cams. It's not a tune, it's real.

I know.... just like the 69 Camaro and 66 Malibu sitting at my dad's place do. But the new 5.0 can be tuned to sound like that without spending a few grand on 4 new cams.

That will only hurt the bottom end power on the car.

Actually Ducky, there isn't much of difference between the 2011 5.0L and the 2012 BOSS 302 camshafts.

According to a post on another site:

Article on the 5.0L (Coyote) motor stating 12MM (.472) lift on intake and 11 MM (.432) lift on the exhaust:

Article on the Boss 302 (modified Coyote) engine (note cam valve lift intake listed as 12MM and exhaust listed as 11MM

The only major difference is that on the 2012 Boss 302 the cam journals are thicker because the saddles on the CNC heads are different. Meaning that cams can not be changed between 2011 5.0L and the 2012 Boss 302.

Looks like Ford might be thinking about a Trackey for the 5.0 GT after all. At least that what I understood by reading between the lines.

See article:

I honestly expect SVT to utilize this before we see it on the mainstream cars. If the take rate is high enough though, I can't see why Ford wouldn't offer this in the future on the GT.

Yea, it would honestly be an option I wouldn't have to think twice about getting either. They said something about the key being available at Ford Racing dealers, I wonder how long it will take the aftermarket to come up with a mod for the GT to use it honestly.

I hope it is available on GT's in the future. It'd be sweet to have another tune on hand with just the turn of a key

We won't see anything like this in the aftermarket anytime soon. A new PCM would be big money. At that point, the existing tuning options are much more reasonable.
