I've heard them with an off road x and honestly I thought they sounded terrible. Zero tone. They sound super tinny. I've heard much better reviews on the hushpower.

In my opinion any chambered muffler with an off road X pipe will have that "tinny" sound.

I bought the American thunders for my 11 and I think they sound great. When I first put them on they weren't as loud but after about 150-200 miles they got louder. I am planning on buying an x-pipe soon and if it sounds like crap afterwards ill buy a different se of axlebacks. -(thanks for the opinions on the AM with an x pipe. Give me food for thought)- They have a deep rumble at idle and a nice tone under acceleration. My only complaint is that about 5500 rpm to redline they almost go quiet. ( it seems like it from the drivers seat anyways. I would recommend them but others have different views. Also don't go off of YouTube videos for sound, they sound different in reality!

I have them. The American thunder classic with bbk after cat x pipe. Check out my vids on YouTube. Just type in gamehead1 and check out all my vids . It shows when I first got them. Then with a custom 3" h pipe. Then with the bbk xpipe. I love how my car sounds with the xpipe. Its a bit loud though. I love it though.

This was my 1st mod. I like it a lot. All I added was that, though. I now want it to be louder!!! Mine sounds throaty, not sure what tinny means. Thing it's throaty?

Tinny can be best described as raspy. I think I am going to go with this exhaust. I just cant see paying 500-700 bucks for an axleback exhaust. Cant beat 320 bucks for a decent sounding axleback.

Is it true too that Flowmasters are restrictive? I read that on a few forums but don't know who to believe.

I have flowmaster American thunder axel backs on my 2010 GT. My only complaint is the drone in 5 th at low rpms. The sound at idle is a deep rumble with a little rasp.

I just ordered a 2012 gt and I'm going with the Roush axel back on that car. I want more of a raw sports car sound and it seems Roush is less likely to have drone.

I decided on the Roush A/B's. I could not be any happier, it is a great system. Very little drone and a aggressive growl on start up.
