I've seen them break. And I've seen them break off the timing cover.
And even if they didn't break. How hard do you think you would need to hit a tensioner with a hammer to bend it? 5lb sledge? You've seen bent ones before right?
Most of the tensioner breaks and bends I've seen come from the 4.6 guys. I know a of one guy that ended up with a bad bearing in his 13 tensioner.
The reason you don't see a lot of bending tensioners with the Yote is that a couple of the popular kits have good tensioner solutions (Whipple/Roush/DOB). They add a tensioner to the back belt (closest to the timing cover) and because it's designed from scratch for a blower they work pretty good. The Edlebrock adds a tensioner to the front belt eliminating the stock one. Not a bad solution, but not as good as the Whipple/Roush/DOB.
The problem is that some blowers are run off of the front belt. This is simply just crap "engineering". Actually, it's laziness, irresponsible and just plain old hackery. A fine example of "let's make it fit" opposed to "Let's make it work right". The front belt tensioner has very, very little travel. Not even in the same galaxy that is needed for a blower belt. What ends up happening is that the tensioner ends up slamming the stop constantly if not sitting right up against it. The only reason the tensioner doesn't bend is that the arm is so short that it's very strong (less leverage). You would probably be better off running no tensioner at all and simply running the belt "tight". At least then the tensioner wouldn't be able to wind up and slam the stop. Kenne Bell and Magnuson do this.
I hope my setup is adequate...the ProCharger had its own belt, idler, and tensioner. I guess the key there is whether or not the tensioner is up to the task or not since the SC belt is in the front.
Ahhhh, not a fan of the larger blowers since the 11-14 cant handle the power potential of a 2.9. Its a different story if youre forged or own a 15 and ip.
WHAT? First I've heard of this. Whipple only makes a 2.9 supercharger now.
Ain't she beautiful? She has a foot fetish though.
Dirty girl... I guess she likes to lay rubber. You know what women say.... Men are like floors. If you lay them right the first time>>> you can walk all over them for life.
My Whipple stage 2 complete was 7,100 and some change. Not seeing the TVS much cheaper anywhere.
Retail is $7900.
You could be in a TVS with 10x better cooling making the exact same power for low $6000's or less. On most days in real life that TVS car would be faster.

Would love to see a link to one for that price with a tune and also some time slips. What temp are we speaking of? I can check that for you as well. I bought mine on black Friday, could have saved ~200 by going with tvs.
