Supercharged?! Step inside please
So,...for those of you that have a supercharged/turbocharged '10-'14 Coyote car, did you do the oil pump gears and camshaft sprocket gear as well? The reason I ask is these seem to be the weak links in our cars, besides the rods I do believe.
If you did not upgrade these items, why not? Just curious and want to see what others who are supercharged/turbocharged say about this.
Thanks!

I think most "kits" out there - which is what we mostly have - come with everything you need to "reasonably" up your power from stock. I don't believe any of them come with (nor do they recommend) changing those gears. I think if you up the whp to 650 or more, perhaps that's a concern, but I don't know.
So yes, stock internals for me for now - and I'm good with where I'm at for power levels.

****, I was planning to get the whipple on my 16 and someone mentioned OPG and I said no way I'm doing that. I have a 13 with a broken piston now and it's back together with a new piston so I know what goes into getting these things apart. I may think twice about it now. I'm also having trouble correlating high hp to opg failure, I can see high boost and high rpms, but I just don't get the high hp argument.

This is my second boosted stang, first was 13 and now my 14 and I never upgraded. Been WOT too many times to count along with several drag strip outings. The main reason they break is from bouncing of the rev limiter or missing a gear. Its more of a shock to the gears rather then the HP.
If you're doing the work and spending the $$ on FI, why not spend the few hundred more for the billet OPGs? Seems like it would be worth it just for the peace of mind. I know it's a PITA to do, and more work, but you've done 2/3 of the work by taking the chains off already anyway.

But, like most have said here, only people that spin their car way up the rev limits are having troubles with the OPG's and sprocket gears.
Be selective when picking out the blower kit also. A bigger blower can always be toned down with pulley sizes. The bigger cc blower will allow more scfm with less boost pressure. So you can actually add more hp with less boost. My cobra was at 21psi which could have done the same power at 15 psi with a bigger blower. Lower psi and more scfm will help with longevity. Lots of people producing big power with these cars and have never cracked a valve cover off. Wouldn't worry about oil pump gears honestly. If you turbo on the other hand, good luck with any and everything.
