Yes it's 100% quieter, than Barton 2post... I should know, I've had both... I just switched to MGW about a month ago and its pretty awesome... I have absolutely nothing bad to say about Barton except the noise is not than I want... Great shifter, but I couldn't get over the added noise, but I'm picky, it doesn't bother most ppl

You say that the MGW is the most expensive, but at $390.00 that's along way from the most expensive. I was looking at the FRPP short throw shifter until I heard about the MGW and all the praise about how great it is. I haven't heard any review of the FRPP shifter, just the Barton and Hurst and such. Does any one have any experience with the FRPP? Just curious cause it's pretty sexy looking too.

It's identical to the Barton.

I dealt with the same issues on mine since June when I bought the car brand new. Installed the MGW this past Sunday and holy crap what a difference. Even when the trans is cold the notchiness on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts is almost gone. I was constantly getting locked out on WOT 2-3 upshifts and finally had enough. Only had the MGW on the car for 4 days now and couldn't be happier. Zero missed shifts at WOT, short positive throws and the NVH levels are the same as with the OEM piece of junk.

Amen to that!

FYI, love your username. Can you guess mine too??? I had a 370z and a g35 before that... Then I felt torque and haven't looked back.

That's great to know!! I was a big Nissan fan b4 this!! And I was dead set on getting the 370z when the 09s came out... These 5.0 definitely have more of a cool factor IMHO, and I'm over the import crowd, they're very judgemental and immature

Haha well I had a 2011 Maxima beforehand. The MAZOC crew adopted me lol. Agreed that the torque on these things is addictive. I don't like waiting for my power band to come in late!

I was almost deadset on a G37 IPL coupe. So glad I changed my mind and got the 5.0 instead. 53K for a brand new G coupe? yeah I don't think so! Plus the 6MT in the G and Z was crap IMO. Super notchy with a hair trigger clutch engagement. Even our stock MT-82 felt better, and that's saying something.

That's why I got rid of my Z as well. For a brand new 35k car, I couldn't deal with cheap feeling tranny. Made all sorts of rattling and grinding sounds that were supposed to be "normal".... Terrible.

Nice to hear. Someone else has one and likes it. Everyone praises MGW and in sure it's amazing but I wanted something a little more unique looking in addition to shortening the shifts. Mine is supposed to be arriving tomorrow and I can't wait to install it.

MGW here now, what a difference, I can speed shift now from 1 to 2 and the car will light up the tires twice as far as with the stock unit, the way it's spring loaded to the 3-4 gate is awesome. It would be virtually impossible to miss a 2-3 shift which was the shift I seemed to miss the most. So if your skeptical, don't be. I went with the shifter before a tuner in my mod priority list. Go ahead and join the club.

Just to followup on this thread, I went from stock to Barton 2-post, back to stock, to MGW. I've had the MGW on for three days now and I love it. Shifts feel very direct. I may mess with the 1-2 adjustable pin to see if I can get a smoother 1-2 shift, but it feels really good as is.

My only concern is that all the notchy shifting and slight grinds into third with the stock shifter have caused damage. Oh well, I'm going to drive the car how I want, that's why I bought it.

I have the Steeda bracket and it works great. Haven't tried the others. Got a smoking deal on Craig's List so I tried it out. Didn't notice anymore noise but I've got the Roush exhaust and JKT CAI so I'm not exactly looking for a quiet ride.

How long and how difficult is it to install the MGW? A whole weekend project?

It’s about a two hour job, it took me three and a quarter hours with axle stands and referencing the MGW U-tube tutorial as I went which added the extra time but I wanted to get it right. It’s a nut and bolt exercise, the worst part is the rubber boot which IS important to get right so worth the effort.
