Shifter Modifications

I've had my Stang for about six weeks now, 1900 miles on it, and the shifter is the only thing stopping me from absolutely loving the car. 1-2 at even like 3k is super rough and hangs up around the gate pretty often. 2-3 is similar, but I can generally get away with up to almost 6k. The lockout however is worse on 2-3. Shifting is fine at lower rpms.

I work all day during the week and the dealership I bought the car from has no service hours on weekends. I would like the dealership to take a look at it regardless, but does this sound familiar to anyone? Would a Barton two post help me out? MGW?

Thanks guys!

The Barton bracket will totally improve the problems you are referring to. If you are going to change the bracket do the shifter at the same time if your budget allows. You will not regret this upgrade from stock shifter and bracket

I had the same issue under WOT 2-3 was sticking real hard. Installed the Barton 2 post shift bracket, problem solved.

Installing the bracket will increase cabin noise. It's high grade metal vs the stock rubber piece. In the end it's worth it. Just my 2 cents

Might as well wait save up some cash and do it right. MGW by far is the best shifter out there. Priciest but you get what you pay for. I almost felt bad installing it, that's how sexy it looked.

I installed a Steeda Bracket, a Hurst Shifter, long story short I removed both, bought and installed a MGW Shifter, If you want a shifter that works and performs correctly buy and install a MGW Shifter! You'll totally enjoy driving your car and won't even think about shifting because the shifter works so well! It's expensive, but it's the "Best"

Dang it guys I caved and ordered the Barton 2 post. I'll see how it is and probably plan on an MGW regardless. It's not even the cost, I'm just too impatient when it comes to mods. I knew if I ordered the Barton from AM it would be here by Friday. That's what happens when you daydream about your car all day. You order parts from your phone on lunch break.

QFT! I did the same thing with a Steeda Bracket and SR shifter. Now that I have over 3K on the MGW, it is awesome.

SR Shifter + SR Billet Bracket works for me.. a tad over $200 from American Muscle. I can't compare with a MGW.

Barton with two post bracket will make it a blast to row through the gears!

Two other options to consider, one is only $31 from Whiteline:

1. Whiteline transmission mount - $31
2. CHE-K member with torque arms - $179

I use the CHE-K member with stock shifter and every gear slides in like butter at any RPM. Basically holds the transmission still for better shifting. The new Whiteline tranny mount may do the same thing, but give more vibration. The CHE K-member with torque arms just adds a bit of interior noise from the tranny into the cabin, no vibration though.

Is the MGW quieter than the Barton shifter+two post?

So, how do you like it? Did it solve your problems? Any negatives?
