SCT Left me Stranded
Ok yesterday was the big day to test the Jon Lund Tune at the track, my mission was to run STOCK, then Jon Lund Tune with Stock Boss,
(The options below on another day)
Then Run Jon Lund tune with JLT CAI
Then run with Steeda CAI and tune at the track to see if I see any BIG differences.
So I load tune (93 Perf Lund tune ) in garage and drive to track over 1 hr away.
What happens> I get a engine light 10 miles away. I decided to pull over instantly ( Worrying about #8 cyl failure's) and load stock tune back in,
NOPE, It starts loading stock tune and errors out, Now I have nothing and car wont start.
I try over and over and open and close doors, make sure everytghing is off, 87 degrees stuck under a highway underpass with car and truck noise blaring in my ear.
I'm getting Teed off, I call Lund , he basically says keep trying call SCT.
I call SCT using my cell minutes about 30 waiting in some Tech wait line, first come first deal.
I hang up and call wife, of coarse shes screaming I should have left car alone, quit modding it, and about to have her call a flatbed.
I look down and I see the programmer saying 10% loading stock tuneI'm
Im like, OMG dont move, dont breathe , please keep loading..
Now let me tell everyone something, before I bought the Lund tune, I had SCT update my firmware themselves over the Shared connection on my PC. So why is SCT Tuners doing this?
Im about to say screw everything and sell all tunes and CAI
Do Not load tunes with SCT unless you want a raised heart rate and lose your temper along with being stranded 45 minutes, and almost didn'tnt make it to the first qualifying round,
SCT I am not happy !

Welcome to the club brother... SCT iTSX killed my stang and killed lots of my time on the phone waiting for support and then back and forth emails. Such a head ache.

I'm pissed at this. I have a 91 tune on my Escape, which definitely woke it up a bit, but I am now unemployed and want to drop back down to my 87 tune to save money where I can, but I'm afraid of the tuner locking me out. The app itself sucks on the iPhone. I had problems with it from day 1. It was such a cool idea, too bad they don't have their sh*t together. They really should have 2-3 people on staff for 24/7 tech support.

I've also posted about my SCT heart attack experience with my 5.0 .. it's downright scary. I could load tunes all day long with my 4.6 ... but SCT is definitely having issues with the 5.0 ECM .. If I had a time machine I would do the Diablo tuner which they guarantee leaves no ECM footprint.

I, too, was stranded with failed SCT uploads a few weeks ago. 30 minutes at our local dragstrip in the pits between rounds trying to swap my stock tune for the premium fuel tune. SCT tuner locked up, car wouldn't start, and it took several attempts to get the tune to load. I was 5 minutes shy of calling a tow truck. Called SCT the next morning for a complete format of my tuner and complete reinstall of their latest firmware. It took an hour on the phone with them (with remote access to my laptop so they could do it for me) and an hour after the phone waiting for the complete install onto my tuner.
I NEVER had any issues with my DiabloSport Predator tuner with my superchaged '07 GT. I am so tempted to buy a Diablo tuner now that it's available for the 5.0L's.

I remember a time, back in the SN95/PI days when Diablosport's canned, off the shelf tunes that every performance shop on the corner sold was considered trash and 'unsafe' for the 4.6... Go with the newcomer SCT, they care/etc and have better results.
How times do change.

Wow!!! hate to see all this going on with tuners/tunes
I had one of the first SCT tuners and tunes from Steeda,Brenspeed,BlowbyRacing
never had any problems with my 2011 5.0 loading tunes or updating firmware on SCT
I always made sure my battery was fully charged and often had a charger hooked up when loading tunes.I made sure there were no power interuptions of any kind.

Mine is the SF3 (part # 3015) and I had problems. SCT's website says all of the X3 and SF3's must be updated immediately....

i too was stranded yesterday, if you count all the times where it just failed to load before I went anywhere, I was technically stranded four times yesterday. Seems to be an issue that's happening with a good percentage of the 5.0 folks lately.
I'm sure it'll be worked out and improved later, but this is scary right now. I'll just make sure I'm careful until the kinks are worked out.

I did all the latest updates per SCT a few weeks ago and am happy to report that I swapped tunes a few days ago and had no issues. In fact, the tune loaded a bit faster than before the updated firmware was installed. Still not as quick as my DiabloSport tuner for my '07 GT loaded, but tolerable. I'm hopeful that SCT's latest updates will finally put these issues to rest.
